So I got my PC now I need pads, but cant decide which set to get. I wanna spend around $50 and get as much of the best possible pads. So far I found three sets: http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?ref=exceldetail&ct=29307&pd=216948&recview=11

I was wondering which is the best and if there are any more that are better.

PS I did a search and never found anything with all the pad kits and a comparison between them. I never really found a lot about the pad kits in general actually.

Thanks

Check your local auto paint store and get the Meg's starter kit which is about $30 for the backing plate and 3 pads for the price of just the three pads, want to spend $50, get 2 more pads. Or see if they have the Lake Country 6" pads. Don't get pads you don't need and some of these kits come with cutting pads you may never use, specially on a clear coat paint. Figure that if you use the PC for everything, you will need 3 pads, 1 finishing pad for wax, 2 polishing pads for a light polish and a more aggressive polish. Sorry, don't know anything about Sonus or Propel as I prefer to buy locally from where the pro's buy and these are internet only type brands.

I only have experience of the two sonus branded pads from Autopia.

I like both the DAS and the SFX ones.

My take is the SFX seem alot denser ( in all 3 grades) I use these on the more poor shape paint.

The DAS pads I use on my own vehicle, they seem less dense quite soft in comparison.

I am happy with them so far. I use the ones I feel more sutible to the task.

I want to try the Propel pads ( they look alot like the Sonus DAS ones) some LC ones, and some Megs ones ( but they are so dear over here)

I don't think you could go wrong with any of your choices . Don't forget the Autopia discount when you figure your cost differences. Good luck

What autopia discount? IS that only at autopia or excel too?

Thanks

I think I'm going with Propel, because this will give me every pad in one kit. But its only 2 cents cheaper as a kit, why is that? Also do we autopians get a discount at Excel?

I bought the SONUS DAS pads from autopia. have had them for over 1 year and they have lasted and performed extremely well. I will say I dont have much use for the orange pad but the blue, green and grey are pretty handy. I also have 2 meguiar's pads that I bought on a whim while at a auto paint store and those are pretty good also.
