Best OTC Products...

Accumulator: I get the Mothers by the gallon, it isnt as luxerious as the Duragloss but costs a lot less. Its pretty foamie, very lubie and all around a quality product and cleans really well while not removing any wax. When you factor in the cost, for me, in the UK it makes a lot of sense. Though i often recommend 90X to others.

The reason I LOVE MOTHERS CALI GOLD is b/c it doesnt contain wax or polymers. I have recommended it a million times to the people on here who do those "Product Tests" on there cars, esp. with multiple LSPs on one panel.

Unlike say NXT or GC or 90X it wont leave anything to disrupt beading, sheeting or shine. I QD as i dry to add that extra zing and make drying safer, but i have always said i like the technical side of things with waxes etc so the Mothers works out great for me!

I agree, but it's a bit pricey in Australia. As a result I mainly use NXT.

steelwind101- Thanks for the additional info. I've been using GC for wheels/wheelwells/undercarriages (saving some $ vs. using Griot's for those jobs) and I'll check the prices on the Mother's. Much as I rave about the Griot's, no sense in using it for jobs where something cheaper is OK.

CumminsCrazed- Heh heh, yeah, it does get sorta tecnno-speak with the Meg's numbers :o But OTOH it's easy to keep all their products straight once you get the numbers memorized (that's probably a sign that I spend too much time and brainpower on this stuff). Not like some companies with their fancy names that're all *so* similar, some of which they spell in goofy ways!

Hey guys, i dont really have the money yet for a full line of professional products, so im asking you guys, the pros, what the best OTC products there are to use. Right now i use mainly Mothers and/or Meguiars, are there any lines in those brands that are better than the others?

Give me your thoughts on which brand and line of product you personally think is the best OTC product out there until i have funds enough for an actual professional line of products.

Thanks

Zach

Zach,

List of amazing OTC products.

Wash - Either Meg's GC Shampoo or NXT

Clay - Clay Magic Mild Clay Bar (Blue)

Cleaner - Meg's DC Paint Cleaner or Color X

Polish - Meguiar's Show Car Glaze #7

LSP - NXT 2.0

Maintain with Meg's Ultimate Quik Detailer.

* ScratchX when needed

* PlastX when needed

If you have a place near you that sells boats or boating supplies, they should carry 303 Aerospace Protectant there.

Awesome test! Is the #21 you are using 1.0 or 2.0? I've read that 2.0 is a significant improvement over the original the way NXT 2.0 improved the original.

I am testing 1.0. I have 2.0 awaiting testing at some point as well.

Cool. It is my understanding that version 2 is supposed to go on easier, come off easier and last longer, the way NXT 2.0 does as opposed to the original.

In any event, great test.

I do not disagree that Mothers is a good soap but isn't using Showtime about the same as DG's residue finish? For a neutral wash, I agree.
