Best Multi-Purpose QD?

...Meguiar's Quik Detailer in the burgundy bottle...

I've been using this lately after washes and have been impressed with the depth and reflection it leaves, for a relatively cheap OTC QD.

Anyone know where I can find #34? I didnt know it was an OTC product. How much does it usually cost? Thanks for all the replies, been much help. :)

Yeah, I think it's pretty underrated. It leaves a pretty good finish (nothing like CM, but it's a fraction of the cost), has great cleaning ability, and it's cheap enough that I don't mind using it on wheels, exhaust tips, under the hood, door jambs, etc. When it's gone, I can go out and buy another bottle within a few minutes.

I was recently turned on to "Polish , Wax and Treatment", from Protect All, (They make the QEW) by a friend of mine who owns a motorcycle. He gave me a little to use at my leisure and said "Let me know what you think).....I tried it, liked it, and bought it...........It also has UV blockers which is important when your deciding if you should park under a tree, or in the hot Ca. sun.......

Patrick, I was given some of this recently. I thought it has some fairly strong cleaning power and would likely compromise an LSP? I was going to try it on my wheels as a weekly treatment but haven't gotten around to it yet. Do you think it really qualifies as a QD type of product?

Locally in this case means the auto paint supply stores in your area (check your yellow pages directory). They usually carry 3M and all the Meg products or can order them for you if not in stock. A 16oz bottle of #34 runs about $6-8 plus tax locally.

DG FC&S for me, hands down. Cheap, cleans well, leaves great gloss and slickness. Can't remember the last bottle of Meg's #34 I bought (long time ago)...just other stuff that works better or just as well for a lot less.

Same here..DuraGloss FC&S is a top all around Multi purpose QD...does what it claims plus some...plus all the sprayers on the Duragloss bottles spray perfect amounts...

Very true!

I more or less chimed in for the products ability to be so versatile. You can apply it to anything, and it will clean stains as well. It also provides UV protection which i think is a huge bonus in light of all the environmental issues. Oh, it also contains some Nuba....Ive only used it a few times but have really been impressed with it.

I plan on stripping down the Cuad Cab this weekend (Heat pemitting), and giving several new products a go.

I like #34 and Meg's Quick Detailer also.
I couldnt stand the spray bottle! Everything evaporated before it reached the surface!

I like #34 and Meg's Quick Detailer also. I think they're similar, but #34 might have more alcohol in it. For OTC, they both do a great job.

I like Spray and Wipe for cleaning ability in particular. I received a sample bottle of 146 from Finish Kare, but unfortunately haven't had a chance to use it yet.

If it has alcohol in it wont that remove a wax or sealant thats on the car? I use #34 all the time to wipe my car down. It cleans well but doesnt add depth to the paint or any sort of protection. Can you guys reccomend a product that does add depth and a coat of protection?

Clearkote's Quick Shine, Finish Kare's 425, Duragloss Fast Clean and Shine and Wizard's Mist and Shine come to mind right away. There are quite a few others too.

I haven't found FI to strip any wax off at all . . . For adding a little extra pop, after QD'ing I'll apply a spray wax product like Meg's Spray Wax. Takes me about 1/3 the time as a "normal" wax, for maybe 2/3's of the effect, so the cost-benefit ratio works pretty good. Pretty cheap product, too.

Final Inspection contains a diol known as propene (or propylene) glycol, which is a type of alcohol. I don't know how much is present, but some have reported decreased durability in protection with sealants like SG after having used FI.

Clearkote Quickshine may be a good alternative qd for you to consider.
