Monkey see monkey do pretty much sums it up. A monkey could probably do better.

There is a lot of misinformation out there about detailing. Probably more than any other industry.

He's not that far from you Brian. Is he your apprentice? :chuckle:

In the video where he's removing the 2cm of wax...I love it when he says, "stop it". I think that's the point where he realized that wax isn't coming off like he imagined.

Some of that wax was thicker than most icings on cakes...lol It's no wonder it didn't come off easy....not to mention he was using a MF with the tag still on it...I'd hate to see when he turns it over and starts to buff and the tag scratches the finish...

If his interior brush is as soft as he claims, I doubt he did any permanent damage to the car.

His techniques are fine for high volume detailing of non exotic cars. In these shops, detailers get 2-3 hours per car, so there's no time to handle the car delicately.

On Autopia, we see the finest, most detailed work, but more than half of all details must be done quickly and affordably.

He could have chosen a car more appropriate for the type of work he's performing, like a Tahoe.

That company has been around for quite sometime. Considering where it is located (Tysons Corner) and the rent associated, he must be doing considerable volume to stay in business. His methods are obviously flawed. This just shows that many people will simply accept this type of quality as the norm.

Or a chevette

That's my biggest problem/concern... simply stating it's standard is a bad thing to say because cleaning a car improperly shouldn't be standard... worst part is he's not only staying in business and "taking care" of his client's cars, he's offering advice online to clean properly... :nervous2::nervous2:

All I have to say is that style of detailing is the norm and the autopian style of detailing is the minority. Sad but true. Obviously the guy has customers that trust him with very expensive cars and I'm guessing his business is doing well.

I agree to a point. But some of his methods are down right harmful to the endurance of the detail and the finish of the vehicle.(as I am sure you are aware)

Not everyone is looking for an autopian detail.

OMG the youtube video is too funny. Even with the ****** camera I can see all the swirls in the rear quarter panel. I wouldn't consider myself a professional by any means, but damn I can run circles around all of these guys. I'm surprised the myspace guys didn't put birthday candles in the grill for that frosting he calls wax.
