Best looking liquid sealant for metallic silver?

Accum, never even noticed, negligible i guess?........'course So Cal bugs arent like Mississippi Pterodactyls.

Heh heh heh...I shudder to think what'd happen to the S8 if I took it down to the Real South!

As it is, I have problems with what I'd call "regular" bugs. We often use that car for a weekend getaway in WVa, and by the time I get back and clean the car up (maybe four days), I have to get out the abrasives :(

For some reason UPP just does *nothing* to protect against bugs...or tree droppings either for that matter :nixweiss Sure is slick and nice looking though!

Meanwhile I have zero such issues on the other vehicles, including the A8 that Accumulatorette *does* take down south for weeks at a time (talk about *NASTY* by the time she gets back). Maybe the newer versions of UPP are better, wouldn't surprise me and let's face it, my v1.0 and v2.0 (or do I have v2.0 and v2.5?...I think it's more like that) are pretty old by now.

I'm currently using FK1000P on my metallic silver and I think it looks GREAT. I was just wondering what else looks good on metallic silver, hence, why I started this thread.

Jeff's Werkstat Acrylic Jett Trigger on top of Jeff's Werkstat Prime Acrylic. Incredibly durable.

Bright, Popping and Reflective!

Silver BMW E60

Sorry for bluish cast - fluorescent lighting in shop, and I just used a small digicam.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Surface prep, followed by:

1. Klasse AIO

2. Jeff's Werkstadt Acrylic Jett(x3 layers) - for reflectiveness.

3. 3 diff premium Carnaubas mixed TOGETHER (see my post on mixing nubas) - more sophisticated look vs that sterile, cold sealant look.

4. Zaino ZCS - to help enhance durability.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can see the white BMW645i parked next to it, and unusual for any silver car, the reflection has great detail...enthusiasts can surely see that the rims on white BMW are AC Schnitzer items.

This silver E60 was done sometime ago, and washed twice a week. Each weekend, Zaino Z6 spray.

Then, the car returned to my shop (and this photo taken) for a wash and Z6 as the owner had no time.

For the past 4yrs, I've tried roughly 21 combinations on many types of silver cars.

Most of my customers commented that silvers generally look only "OKAY" even after extensive detailing and it's mainly due to the colour. I agree. Surface prep is critical to make silvers look great.

Now, with the combo above, my customers all love its effect on their silver cars.

Werkstat definitely get my vote for silver as well!

FK1 #1000 or Opti Seal.

If you are not seeking 6+ months, Try HD PROXY.

I agree with FK 1000p, and I am a huge fan of Opti-Seal, but not on silver. OS darkens the paint, not something I want on silver. Others may differ on that preference though.

The only sealant I've tried that protects very well from all kinda bug splatters, acid-rain etching/hard water spotting and bird droppings is REJEX - 3layers of it.

After your usual prepping, full strength alcohol wipedown.

1st layer Rejex - 12hr curing.

2 and consecutive layers - 8hrs curing.

Now, I use it on my customers' superbike and Harleys to help minimise staining and ease their maintenance.

Rejex doesn't have a tremendous gloss. But the protection from the above nasties is much better than Zaino, Klasse and many other sealants I've tested.

So, on my customers' silver cars that's frequently exposed to bug splatters, I'll surface prep extensively and do 3 layers Rejex. Works great and they like it very much.

As you may have read my last thread on the Autoglym SRP and Extra Gloss. It worked exceptionally well on my Pearl White Acura. Today, I detailed a 09' Lexus, and decided to see what this combination would do on Metallic Silver.

Yes....Autoglym's SRP+EGP is a formidable combo for silver.

Many car owners would be quite impressed by the initial looks.

3 layers of EGP (24hrs apart) on top of SRP would be tremendous on silver.

EGP smells very strongly of kerosene.

IMO, this high solvent content probably gives it the initial POP, as washing old enamel-paint cars with kerosene was once a practice in many countries decades ago to help give it a nice gloss.

As with most stuff that looks great....this combo dissappointed me with its relatively poor durability in hot, humid and rainy weather. Perhaps I can try to Polycharge the EGP and re-test.

Based on my earliertesting, if I substituted SRP and EGP for Meguiars Gold Class (applied by rotary and polishing pad), there is no significant diff except that GC is nowhere as "thick and slick" as SRP+EGP, on well prepped paint. But again.....GC is not renowned for durability. Sigh!

I really like DG111 on silver. It has that plasticky, I'm a sealant but want to look like a carnauba look that is pretty bad on most darker colors, but on whites and silvers, its amazing. It really reminds me of the way Z2 (non pro) used to look, some people really hated it, the word "laminated" was tossed around quite a bit, but I really dig that look on boring colors, or cars. Its an over the top pop that is perfect in some cases.

Agreed.

That 'plastic laminated' appearance looks great on white and any light-colours.

Duragloss Track Claw also gives that effect on well-prepped silver, and it has a light candy fragrance too. Very easy to use, and looks great.

I'm testing its durability now and will post results 1 month later.
