Best Final Finishing Pad for Rotary

Grey LC pad works for me; although I rarely finish with a rotary on black. I do want to try hi-temps smooth cut via rotary to see how it finishes though. I used it yesterday via PC and the finish rivals 106ff.

Totally markless paint in sun and artificial light with a 9227.

Though only possible thanks to everyone on this forum.



Honestly, an edge white pad or Lake country equivalent which is even softer will do it every time

Pity that sonus don't make a version of the white pad.



I could make it better thanks to the discovery I made this friday night but won't see car again for some time

Delayed response, as I was on vacation for a week...I dont' think the lake country white is soft at not - not very good for final finishing on black with a rotary for sure.

SMooth cut huh? I haven't heard anyone touting HTs finishing polish (just their heavy compounds). I might have to give the smooth cut a go on some soft black paint with a PC (which always tells the story quite well).

I actually find that halograms are dependant on three factors - 1)speed, 2) pressure, and 3) pad/polish combo - all must be handled just right if one is to finish down on black with a rotary. But when this is accomplished, the results are stunning!
 
Give it a shot. I've used it twice now on soft paint and have been impressed. The finish is close to fpii/106ff and it has a bit more cut. (its aka light cut)
 
Is theea difference between "smooth cut" and "light cut?"



IMO, LC doesn't finish down as well as FPII or BF SRC FP(it's close, but no cigar). At least I can't get it to finish down as well on soft black paint.
 
light and smooth cut are the same. I've only used it on two cars; on both the finish was similar to fpii/106ff. Probably depends on the paint.
 
I was so blown away by the ability of the HTEC to cut yet finish down very well, though the working properties of this compound need to be improved. I've recently had many conversations with Scott at HiTemp - I think I have conviced him that I know my stuff and I think he is going to let me "work" with him to develop a compound with better "working" properties. Also, Scott is currently working on developing a final finishing polish that won't leave any DA micro-marring on dark colors...I should be getting some samples to test soon. Can't wait.

never tried thier smooth cut but if its anything like thier low cut it finishes great. low cut after ex or 357 is an awesome waxable finish, as you can damn near lsp right after 357

Shoulda mentioned smooth and light cut are the same. The bottles are just labelled differently. :)



And I agree; smooth/low/light after 357 is a nice combo.

Yeah, I got a gallon of the 357. It certainly has a little nicer "working" properties than the 420 (EC) or 440 (EC+). On back, if makes the leap from going from a compound directly to a final finishing polish a little smaller leap.

I think the red and or grey are really soft, though I only have the red. But the red is much softer than the white.
 
In follow-up, it doesn't seem there are any real contenders to the American Buffing, AKA P2 pads when it comes to finishing with a rotary. I personally have had the best luck with their green, even though the blue and white are "softer" (higher PPI); nevertheless, I can finish down easier with the green for whatever reason (the higher PPI pads seem to "grip" the paint, creating unnecessary friction).
