Best drying towels?

The softest WWs I've tried are the gray ones from Ian at MicroFiberTech. They're all I use on the good cars. *Much* softer than BBTs, for instance.

I use a pro back pack Echo blower I think it puts out something like 200 mph /w large vol of air and a WW wipe down w/ no winging and there is no water in seams and the grill I'm done in a vary short time. BUT you don't want to use a gas engine when you are going to use a sealer/wax because gas engine blowers some of the gas/oil mix exsust gas is in with the air being blown that would put oil on a the car. sealers don't stick to oil.

I use this also, mine is a 265 mph detachable blower from my wet/dry vac. I get most of the water off with the blower and then I'll follow up with my towels.

I've used a foam-core WW, and I was very disappointed with it. It just seemed to push the water around and not absorb much. Hopefully, Mother's version will be much better.

Thanks for the info. So, it seems that once again proper execution is needed to turn a great concept into a great product. Some WW are underperformers the first uses (WCD's a great example) but after a few washes they work great.

If the intake is not filtered it is risky wheter gas or electric.

:2thumbs: I agree. Despite the popularity of drying with a leaf blower I'm still not quite comfortable with doing it. I keep thinking of dirt getting sucked into the intake and shot at high speeds into my paint or dirt blowing up against the paint from off the ground while drying the lower part of the car.

Pakshak WW are the best I have used hands down. And they are on sale right now for factory seconds. I bought 5 of these and they do not seem like seconds to me. Great deal at $9!

They are Cheap, but not that good as compared to Pak or Excell.

i think i just figured it out. Its waffle weave. but what does the WW have to do when drying a car? thanks.

The pockets created by the WW design gives any grit or foreign(sp?) object a place to "hide" and not be dragged across the paint. Another words crap is moved up and away from the paint, at least that's my grasp on it.

what do you use for your drying?

I bought a Meguiar's Water Magnet, which seems to be held in low regard on this site. Although at the time I bought it I was reading the opposite. I don't have the money to order from a place like PakShak at the moment so I'm strictly OTC. Even though it was a waffle weave I just found its absorbency to be nil.

Thanks everyone...I settled on the Montereys from Excel and they were just what I was looking for - pretty much identical in texture, weave, and thickness to my Sonus towels...only a lot bigger. Though they aren't as think and don't soak up as much water as my Big Blue IIs, they are definitely softer - just what the doctor ordered!
