i consider myself to be a fairly picky guy when it comes to my cars. they always get detailed and maintaned regulary but ive never really used high end brand detailing supplies. ive been looking around and i have found a few kits im curious of and would like your opinions and possible experience with the kits i have listed.

chemical guys kit:

Mobile Detailing

pinnacle:

Pinnacle Complete Detailing Wax & Cleaning Kit- Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay, Souveran Wax, Bodywork Shampoo, Paintwork Cleansing Lotion, and more!

zaino:

Zaino Ultimate Protection Show Car Kit: Zaino Store

klasse/sonus

Sonus Perfect Shine Kit

Do you own a PC?

Do you want to remove swirls and imperfections in paint?

Do you want to just maintain your car after it has been detailed?

What are your plans, swirl removal, or just cleaning/protecting/sealing/waxing?

Lots of kits out there for different jobs.

i would suggest getting a UDM or PC for swirls and paint correction. It makes a world of difference. If interested, I have one for sale.

I like the ultara plush from packshak and the plush ones from detailersdomain. I believe both offer good pricing on bulk orders.

thanks for all your input guys.. hopefully i made a correct "rookie" choice on what i purchased. i think zaino will do well for me. my cars paint is in great condition already it just has never had a high end or sealer applied to it. its always been claybar, paint cleaner and carnuba and like others said, it doesnt last in the south.

what do you guys think of my choice of towels i purchased?

12 cotten towels $70 :soscared:

What, do you mean that's expensive?

I dunno....DFTowels products are mighty good. For that matter, it's easy to spend more than that on bath towels; many washcloths/hand towels (similar size to the DFTowel) are well over $10 unless you get them on sale so :nixweiss

my wife will even tell you that you get what you pay for with towels and bedding...our towels in our house our pricey too and we also use 600-800 thread count sheets on our beds...

did some reasearch on the forum...seem that the jury is somewhat still out on most (not all) MF. but the DFTowels have a great reoutation.

i got 12 towels, a DF wash mitt and grout type was sponge all for $70.

i dont think i went wrong, considerng that good microfiber towels are just as much

Nah, you didn't go wrong. I'd probably want a few extra wash mitts though, but you might not need that with the grout sponge.

Heh heh, regarding household textiles, the next month or so is White Sale time at a lot of places :D

Threadjack: How are those df towels do for washing and drying the car? Also what is the sponge used for?

Are they even still on the market? Last I heard people were having issues doing business with him and I caught flak for trying to say he always seemed like an OK guy...guess people were *VERY* displeased.

IMO they're OK as cotton goes, but I've marred paint with them a few times.

The covered sponge was for polishing, applying dressings, stuff like that. I never found any real use for mine.

I dunno....I generally don't use my DFT/CBTs all that much, but when you want cotton (the way cotton absorbs water is simply different from how MF adsorbs it, even if both basically accomplish the same thing) they are quite nice. I do use them when blowing water out of nooks and crannies; I hold the towel stationary and blow the water into it rather than rubbing it across/against the paint just to minimize the chance of marring.

Hmm... I've never marred paint with my DF Towels, although they are some of the originals. Lots of QC issues I can see as I do regularly cut threads with scissors per their instructions. I understand they belong more in a hall of shame, due to performance and their owner, than buffing a paint finish, huh?

I have, as best I can tell, three different batches of 'em, and yeah...the oldest ones were the best and I can't say I've marred paint with those, at least not when they were new (keeping cotton like-new-soft is a huge challenge for me). Sure no worse than the reserged Charismas that were all the rage a few years ago, but maybe no better than the old Koala Soft towels I have (are those still around?).

I wouldn't go so far as "Hall of Shame", but then I'm not one of the people who had unsatisfactory dealings with DFTowel, either :nixweiss

I was just fine with Leo, always cordial and friendly IME. Ah.. Charismas, consider them vintage. I use them to buff my seats. Still nice and plush, better than some of my hand bath towels. :o :D
