Best Detailer In The Whole Wide World

This reminds me of that article that was published about the top ten detailers in the US. It was linked here and opened a huge debate over what criteria that was or wasn't used.

Bunky you bring up all the questions that should have been asked in this.

IMO there is no way to have "the best" detailer. It's to subjective to say one person is the best.

I was actually one of the three detailers highlighted in this article and some of the comments on here were not very complimentary. The criteria was really non existent. Myself, Rick Rack and Josh Ottman were all contacted as our names came up during the author's internet search.

I explained to the author that their is no such thing as the best, etc... He asked me for recommendations of other detailers in other areas.

One guy, whom had just polished out a Mercury I had referred him, named Todd Cooperider came to my mind as somebody in the Midwest. Ironically, Todd and I had spoken a few days earlier about how to use a rotary as he was new to detailing at the time. While, in just a few short years (and a lot of hard work) he has become one of the best known detailers in the industry, at the time he (and many others) were just noobies with a passion.

The best is the person who consistently exceeds the client's expectations! Does not matter what they charge or what kind of cars, just delivering every time. There are a lot of those people that don't do video or write ups.

Mike, that makes too much sense, so there has to be a different criteria,

No write-ups, reviews or videos?!?!? What kind of individual would do such a thing?

:swirly:

I think it must be trouble he seems like he knows a lot and posts a ton, so my vote goes to him!!

:crazy2:

What I have noticed is that a number of people (not sure of their skill level) seem to base the skill of a detailer on his ability to make youtube videos that may be entertaining and/or education. You see this when someone makes a reference to a video and someone chimes in they are a great detailer and I do not believe they have met the person or seen any work in person.

Tood, you are too humble. You are right up there in terms of skill with anyone in the WHOLE industry. Your work is top notch ans your knowledge of product exceedes anyone I know of. What makes you different, is your ability to merge technology (Videos/pictures) into complex write up, and break everything down so a novice like me can understand and learn something from all your posts.

When you went to the great while north to do that collection, I was amazed at the volume of high quality work that you put out. A lot of guys can do one car perfect in a weeks time. Try 15 tought cars in 4-5 days. You did it and I noticed. The nicest part is you don't honk you own horn, so I am doing it for you :).

Good job, were lucky to have you.

Tell Max, I would follow you anywhere!

I don't know if there is a THE BEST..however my favorites are (in no order);

Larry- AMMONYC
Mike Phillips- AG
Junkman
Ivan-LUSTR

The best? Don't have a clue.
But the ones I really look up to are
Jesse O'conner from Wolfs Chemicals
Todd
Mike P
And Steve from Poorboys

They really understand the products and know what they are talking about, practically as well as chemically. They got the craft figured out!
I will follow them with my eyes closed if they tell me to do it another way then I do it right now
