Best Detailer In The Whole Wide World

David Saunders of street dreams detail. His work is totally top notch, he takes the time to document his work in detail in both photos and videos. He has taken the time to answer specific questions. I hired him to do a car of mine and he could not had done a better job or been nicer in showing me how to polish and apply a coating.

He is a super person and a top notch detailer.

Probably Todd H. His articles, tests, & info seem the most in depth to me. Gotta love Paul Dalton as well for the bling bling factor.

I think todd and mike Phillips are right up there. they always seem to take detailing to the next level, especially with their ability to teach others.

The Junkman. Can't beat a brotha in his garage productions. His videos are the most entertaining. Much respect for Mike Phillips, Todd Helme, Kevin Brown, Garry Dean and Larry Kosilla as well.

For me... Todd an Mike Phillips. Those two give us more valuable info than the rest combined... Oh an Larry ammo as well as Phil over at DD are awesome too.

The question is by what criteria are they judged such as:

1. number of witty youtube videos
2. personality
3. number of cars detailed
4. In a top 10 list
5. number of posts in a forum
6. nice guy
7. educational
8. humble
9. they say they are the best
10. altruistic - real or imagined
11. experience - how is this measured
12. number of high end cars detailed

Best? No such thing IMO. Plenty of guys at the top, who can take a car and make it look great. However, who are the guys who have the experience to take a difficult car, one with sticky paint, a trashed interior, a neglected engine, and make it great? Who are the guys, who have been taking things to the highest levels, for years and years, day in and day out?

I would say Jason Kilmer is my favorite, Robert Willis is right up there too.

This reminds me of that article that was published about the top ten detailers in the US. It was linked here and opened a huge debate over what criteria that was or wasn't used.

Bunky you bring up all the questions that should have been asked in this.

IMO there is no way to have "the best" detailer. It's to subjective to say one person is the best.

I would love to see a TV show similar to Ink Master but for detailers. You could have guest judges like Paul Dalton and Kevin Brown each week, and put the contestants through every aspect of detailing..not just paint correction. I think it would not only validate some of these guys claims of being the best, but also show viewers just how hard this job is sometimes.

I agree with Todd. No such thing as "best", but I believe detailers can each excel in certain aspects of detailing more so than others. Jason Kilmer would be a prime example with his exceptional wet sanding abilities.

I do fully believe popularity, number of views/post, and/or marketing abilities should have little to do with someone being labeled "the best".

The best is the person who consistently exceeds the client's expectations! Does not matter what they charge or what kind of cars, just delivering every time. There are a lot of those people that don't do video or write ups.
