Best Cleaning QD

My car gets some very light sap spots from time to time at work. Looking for an OTC, good CLEANING QD. I also have some DP rinseless wash which I could dilute down, but looking for opinions on the best cleaning QD. LSP is IW845, so not concerned if the qd is a little tough on the lsp.

thanks.

You can find Meguiar's Professional #34 in some stores. If you do, buy it. It is the best cleaning QD IMO.

I *really* like Meguiar's #34. I use it on all sorts of stuff, including non-automotive applications. BUT...

IME its cleaning power is quite limited compared to waterless/rinseless wash products. It's a fine choice when it's potent enough, but sometimes a job calls for something else.

Those of you who like leaves-stuff-behind QDs for cleaning might look into FK146. It's not quite as slick/shiny/etc. as FK425, but it cleans a whole lot better.

i had been using the Meg's #34 final inspection, then moved to meg's #43 final detail b/c it was cheaper, and it seemed to be virtually the same stuff. Now I am trying the Meg's #135. They all seem to be very light duty though. Both of my cars are outside all the time.

If one was not worried at all about taking off any wax, wouldn't any waterless car wash be the best bet. I think someone above already posted that as well?

Is there a particular chain where you have seen it, or are you referring to specific paint specialty companies like 'Finish Master'?

I use both 425 and 146. I mainly use 425 while drying, on LCD screens and glass around the house, as clay lube and interior windows on cars.

146 I use to clean my bike and my helmet after rides. I also use it to take bugs off the front end of my car since it usually only comes out on nice days.

A little story about 146. I was cleaning my helmet in my dining room which has hardwood floors. I misted the 146 on the helmet and wiped the bugs off with a microfiber. Some of the 146 mist got on the hardwood. It sure is slick. I almost fell several times and it's been a few weeks now.

Duragloss Marine detailer works pretty good too.

Will a QD actually remove tree sap people??

I dont' know since I don't remember really ever trying, but why not just rewash the sapped area and hit it with bug n tar remover or an adhesive remover.

I'd think a QD would just smear it around were an adhesive remover will remove it completely?

Thoughts?

I'd park elsewhere if it were me, even across the street if I had too. Sap can be very difficult to remove once bonded.

audicoupej- Good story about the FK146 :D And to think people say how it's not all that slick (probably in comparison with FK425).

JoshVette- Yeah, I think we're stretching the role of QDs quiet a bit when we talk about tree sap

One argument against solvents though- IF (and that's a big "if") you can clean the sap off without precipitationg a LSP-redo, then I can see not reaching for the stuf that'll clean LSP off along with the sap. I've been able to do this with a gentle claying using Sonus green, but only when the sap wasn't a big problem.

Bairum- Most autobody/paint supply places sell Meguiar's stuff, and they'll usually have #34 OTC.
