best brake dust cleaner/repellent

I really loved this product. It resisted brake dust more then any other wax or sealant Ive used, including Rejex,Z5,476s and others...

It would resist for short time only, but cleaning was easier and application was even easier the a WOWA...great product.

OK, I hit the local Big Lots...wadda lot of junk. No Michelin BDR* to be seen. However, if you like WD40 or PB Blaster they had LOTS...no pun intended. I will say that I found my coveted Turtle Wax cotton chenille mitt which is a personal favorite, so all was not lost. I also bagged a very decent (cheap) crock pot to replace an aging unit at home.

*I just made that up ;)

It's odd, the BDR still appears on Michelin's website and at a couple of on-line merchants ($8 - $9/can). I sent Michelin a note and will see if they can offer any suggestions on where to buy.

FK1000 beats every dedicated wheel product I have tried, and every other sealant and wax as well- and I have tried LOTS ;)

Opti Seal does well, and is fast and easy to use. Jetseal x2 does well, as does Z-2, but FK1000 spanks all of them. I can get them 90% clean just with my PW rinsing them, 8 weeks after application. A light shampoo gets them 100% clean for a lot longer :D

I recently tried Meguiar's Quik Wheel Detailer. This leaves the wheel very slick and works well to keep wheels clean and reduce the effort of removing brake dust. In my case the brake dust now just rinses off easily with regular soapy water.

This stuff is very easy to use. Simply spray on a mf and wipe on. Buff off with a dry mf and there is no streaking. Another nice Meg's OTC product, IMHO.

Jim, this sounds interesting. Can you say where you purchased it? I've never noticed it but must admit I wasn't searching for it.

Thx.

My first bottle came in a "Quik Car Care" kit that I got free from Meguiar's for filling out a survey on their webforum. That kit contained Quik Interior Detailer, Quik Wheel Detailer, Quik Detailer and a Supreme MF. Since using QWD, I've become a fan and have purchased a few more bottles at both PEP Boys, and Target.

I like Meg's Quik Interior Detailer (QID), Ultimate Quik Detailer (UQD) and Quik Wheel Detailer (QWD) a lot, FWIW.

Ultima UPGP is the best for repelling dust that I've ever seen. Using the UPGP,brake dust will almost hose right off.

The Michelin stuff is good also, but I haven't used it in quite sometime. I have almost 1/2 a can of it left from when it first came out. The Michelin tire shine is even better though.

I struck out. PimpBoi had some of the sister products, but not the stuff for wheels.

Noteworthy: I saw AQUAPEL for sale. It was in the detailing supply section, well hidden. IIRC, it was $7.50/application

+1 for 1000P - OOS/ZCS are my second favorites...

I have to assume poor sales. I contacted the company that was producing it to get the low-down. They wouldn't reply to my inquiries.

Sounds ok

I`d never seen or heard of this beore but I`ve managed to find somewhere selling it for only £4 each, so I`ve bought a few bottles

.

please, quit torturing youself immediately. put ceramic pads on you car. i repeat, put ceramic pads on your car. i ordered my C6 with the hightech suspension (F55) which comes with very soft performance pads that dust like BMW pads :hairpull. i purchased ceramic pads for $135 and spent about one hour changing the pads (i could have taken about 25 minutes but i really took my time on my brand new car). if you are not handy any shop can do this for about an hours labor charge. NEW CERAMIC PADS = NO DUST, REALLY. even after i bedded the new pads (8 stops from 65 to 5, full pedal) there was only a trace of dust. you will be SOOOO happy :grinno: with the results. good luck. please refer to scott's prior post :secret.
