Best 3.5" flexible backing plate for DA?

Which 3.5" flexible backing plate for DA would be considered best?

Also, while on the same subject, some of the designs make me wonder how flexible they are to start with, if any at all?

I mean when I see design like this

wouldn't top plate with 3 "rivets" (?) actually result in stiff(er) plate than a design that would be more along of something like these (yes, I know second one is not 3.5", and third one is for rotary, I am using it to just illustrate kind of design)

I use the LC ones and they work great. I don't think you can go wrong with LC!

Aren't all three I posted pics of made by LC to start with? And aren't Propel and Sonus made by LC too? Tough to see as ExcelDetail doesn't show the picture of 3.5' one, so I would be buying "blind".

all of my backplates (including a 3.5") have come from Patrick via exceldetail....haven't had a problem with any of them yet...and i like speed 6. :)

I second Patricks plates....I have put my 3.5 plate thru hell and it is like new....very good quality.....his 4" pads are great also....but his service is tops

it looks like the 5 inch one

5^^ Propel Backing Plate

they are nice plates....to me on a 3.5 inch plate you do not need it to be real flexible since the working area is so small...flexible comes in when you use 7.5 inch and up pads..but to each there own....

I am sure you are correct in majority of the cases but I have a spot that needs work so close to the 45 degree upward bend in the metal (middle section of the hood) that I don't feel comforable with an idea of working on it with something that is not flexible.
