Best 1-step wax/sealant for professionals

I like Poorboy's Polish w/ Carnuaba, it seemed to last longer than Clearkote Vanilla Moose.

I'm looking forward to trying Polish w/ Sealant next. :grinno:

The new formula (aka Prime) is milder, so it may not suit your needs. As a mild cleaner, it is still very good. But with the nano-formulation, the abrasive size has diminished as well. The normal AIO had very small (1 micron) abrasives already, but the new has even finer. And the FK is more durable.

from my understaning something in the 1 micron range is roughly 10,000 grit-to put it in perspective

Long Haul's Truck Polish/Wax works very well. Decent cleaning ability, wet shine and about 3 months durability. Available OTC too.

Very similar cleaning ability to 215, difference being LH leaves a wax and 215 a sealant.

Find you the 4 oz in the LH Scott....just for the fact you can slip it in you back pocket.

I just keep refilling mine as needed.

I was going to suggest Collinite #870 (fleetwax liquid)

It has quite strong cleaners, and while it doesn't last as long as its siblings, it will have no problems reaching the 3 months marks.... but Collinite themselves suggest to use it only in gelcoats :nixweiss

I think that the most rounded 1 step you can use for a cheap wax job is the humble mothers carnauba cleaner wax: It has strong cleaners, lasts more than 2 months, and looks quite nice.

OTC, the rest of the products have either weak cleaners (FX, TWPUG, reflections) or the ones that have decent cleaners (NXT, E1 nanowax) will tank after a wash. Scott's suggestion of the long haul could be the only other viable alternative OTC.

 Excellent suggestion. Long Haul's line is one of the better OTC products but their marketing isn't great.

anyone have any recommendations as i am going to do a one step this week (possibly thursday)? i just washed/clayed/#80 today, but didn't have time to do my lsp as it started to get dark, and it's going to rain tomorrow :( . i'm going to be using the blue 4" propel turbo pad and here are the choices....

mothers cleaner wax

megs colorx

long haul truck polish/wax

Since you just finished with #80, I'd suggest something with no cleaners if you have it. #80 leaves a wonderfully wet finish because of the glaze it lays down. I'd try and preserve the glaze if possible.

If not, use the wax with the least amount of cleaners.

I agree with ALFSTI...no need to use a one-stop since you already prepped (clayed and polished) the paint. Now you should use a pure sealant or wax for best result. I also agree in that #80 lays down a very noticable glaze (easily seen on black cars) that you probably want to preserve.

I wanted to see what other professionals have found to be the best wax/sealant for use on customers' cars who pay for the "basic" detail (i,e, wash & wax).

Some of my requirements are:

1)must be easy to apply and remove

2)cannot stain plasic

3)should not have tendancy to leave white residue in cracks & crevices

4)should look good, feel slick, and last a long time

5)should have some "cleaning" properties (I'm not sure this is a valid requirement, but my thinking is that since no paint prep has been done, a pure sealant/wax may not bond as well...and sometimes there are small "spots" not completely cleaned by the wash process).

6)I suppose price should be a factor, but I seem to let this requirement slip away in trade for the other aforementioned requirements :)

I've been using AIO (sometimes by PC) to fill this niche. But sometimes I use a pure sealant or wax such as FMJ, AJ, Natty's Blue, and P21S even when the paint hasn't been prepped, but maybe I shouldn't?

What is AIO and AJ sealent for wheels?

Yes the acronyms are very confusing! Stick with it and you will pick up on them.

AIO - All In One such as Klasse AIO

I don't know what AJ is either.
