being number #1 on Google

Hi Guys,



I have a website and do not pay anything to be "at the top" on google. The only time I show up at the top is when I type auto detailing in the city I am located in. When I type in a surrounding city I don't show up until the third or fourth page (and sometimes not at all). I have every city that I service listed on my website. My question is, how do I get to the top of google when you type in any of these cities? I feel I am losing out on a lot of business. Keep in mind, my budget is tight. Thanks in advance.
 
Google adwords will PUT you there, just set a budget of 100/month and like no more than $10/day. I spent maybe $600-$1000 on them last year. I'm trying to put any money into it this year as I"m on page one organically.



One thing you should do is create a signature like mine below. Make the phrase you want to be found for the link to your site. Do that across as many car forums you post on. Make FB links that go to your page or specific pages on your site. write blogs that link to your site. You'll get the idea, the more places across the internet that are pointing back to your site the higher you will rank.



In your website, make sure you put alt-tags on all the photos that would feed search results, so a photo of a BMW should have an alt tag of "BMW Detailing in Atropolis, Btropolis, and Ctropolis." Make sure you use page titles that have the cities you want in them, just like the alt tags.
