beginner's equipment

Hi,

some of you may know I'm just launching tssdetailing this month. I have know idea where to get equipment for mobile detailing. My partner has a buffer and chemicals/compounds, and I plan on picking up a trailer. But what do you suggest for:

water tub

power washer

vacuum

steam vac (will this do engine bays too?)

Should i get all new or mix with used? I'm looking at some sites that kinda offer bulk packages for the above listed for about $2000-$3000. That seems reasonable to me, but let me know?

Honestly, this sounds like a recipe for disaster. If, as you suggest in your other thread, your partner is the one that knows about car detailing, why aren't you asking him the equipment questions? If neither of you really know what you are doing, starting a business doesn't seem like the greatest idea.

I never like to dampen anyone's enthusiasm, but a pet peeve of mine is people who are in business who have no business having their own business.

I'm vying for a second opinion on items

his background is in body shop and detailing in a garage setting.

With respect; If everyone had your mentality, than we would have no small businessess.

Absolutely untrue. I had some guys work on my house who must have worked for another contractor just long enough to make them dangerous. They hired an experienced contractor as a salesman, who made it sound like he would be there on the job (he wasn't). I'm trying to keep you from "experimenting" on people's cars the way these guys experimented on my house, on their way to actually knowing what they are doing.

There's a difference between being a small businessman who knows about business and knows about the craft he's plying, and someone who thinks it would be a cool idea to have a detailing business but really is not experienced in doing the work. But if you think you are ready, good luck to you.

you need at least a

5x8 Trailer

100+ gallon tank

2200+ psi pressure washer

3000+ watt generator

make two outlets for the water tank, one to the washer, and the other with a valve for draining water. you can attached a toolbox to the front of the trailer for your supplies. and make sure to bolt everything down.
