Er...your before pictures seem to be of the roof but your afters are of the trunk? '84 would have been the early days of clearcoat, but whether that is BC/CC or SS, that is some sort of paint failure.

The after is the trunk - in my excitement i forgot to snap a picture - lucky for me the roof looks the same.



at any rate - any thoughts on the work?

You did the best you could on a car with clear coat failure.

Yes, it's much improved, but IME that will last for about a week before it's pretty much back to looking the way it did before you started.

i could spray some clear over it . . . it is a project car any way, so i might experiment and see what happens.

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do once the clear coat fails like that.



Trying to spray more clear over it is going to be a exercise in frustration. You're better off reshooting the whole panel and blending it with the rest of the car.
