These pics are being hosted at my Meguiar's gallery, is meguiar's down? :nixweiss

Scottwax, Where do you get all those cool little faces and thingy's from? I see you have more then the list here.

http://www.scottwax.com/smilies.htm is where I host mine. I get most of the from offtopic.com and many of those cannot be used here due to mature content.

Amazing clarity to that paint!

Looks like a brand new jetta!

Very nice work...Definately do it part time...It's a great cash camel and enjoyment :)

I have lost all hope in my attemps at detailing, I saw this for the first time to day in the sun. and there are a few more around the car. What do I do now? Send it off a cliff?

:o :( these faces can't descibe the way i feel, after all that work.

Buffer Haze.

It was pretty inevitable with PowerGloss. As fine as a compound it is, it's still a compound.

Any compound will need to be followed by a finer polish. I found following PowerGloss with Final Polish produced a flawless shine.

Don't kill yourself over it, just make sure to follow up with that finer polish. The bad stuff is over, it's just getting rid of the micro-marring now.

Good Luck.

power gloss? final polish? I used pc with dacp 80 vm and did 16 by hand? are buffer marks the same as halograms?

Has anyone else experienced this?

cheapshot: I'm sorry. I'm on the wrong page :)

You did via rotary? You should've followed up on the PC or a finishing pad. You need to go to a finer polish. Try something like #9 or SFP.

the damn sun always brings out the little secrets. follow up with a finer polish before LSP. but like sean said, the hard work is over, just strip off the sealent, do a little more polishing, and you will be set.

Have you tried using some QD on those areas? It just may be excess wax that wasn't buffed off. Those don't look like rotary holograms.

Scottwax the car is a little smeary you could easily leave marks by touching it. I thought it finished out so nice with #80, I guess it's just black, It is so Evil, I thought about #82 and a polishing or finishing pad. but i didn't think it really needed it? does black require this step?

how do i go about stripping it? it has vm exp 16 on it. should i try a good wash first with gold class to see if it takes care of it?

does this happen to others? is this from my polishing method or techique with dacp or 80? or is it because i didn't finish up with #9 or #82. are halograms easy to take care of, because the swirls on this car were so bad, and pretty tuff to remove.

Thanks to everyone for helping me out! I really appreciate it.

cheapshot: Screw a stripping step. Polishing will strip the VM/EX-P/16 off.

I'd definately do SFP with a polishing pad. It does happen, it's all about the paint tendencies. Some paints haze with #80, others don't.

Good Luck.

I always strip existing sealant or polish, I go with the isopropyl mix /Prep-All. Maybe it's just for the sake of doing so but I want to repolish fresh, bare paint. Seems "most proper" to me. :nixweiss

If #80 does haze, what are some good products to remove the hazing before sealing/waxing?

Thanks,

(I'm planning on using #83/#80 for the majority of my work, so this is very pertinenet):nixweiss

I really just don't know anymore? the finished looked so good after 80. I just can't believe this. Has anyone else had this happen to them on black or a dark color car? If so what did you use to remove them?

I will first try washing, But just incase I want to pick up whatever it is to remove them so i have it close by.

first micro-marring now holograms or smears boy oh boy:sosad

Thanks for all your help guys, I really appreciate it.

I think you just didn't buff the excess off thoroughly enough during one of your steps. Try QDing the areas first and see if that helps.

Scottwax I tried to QD, it didn't work, maybe a little car wash will take some of the excess or smooth it out or something. It appears to be sunny today so I'll find time to wash.

do hologram move? or do they stay in a single spot? I need to read that link in the hologram post.

OK, I'll try to keep this short, I woke up today first thing on my mind wash Holograms and Halloween. What a Match! :nixweiss

I had a cup of home brewed Starbucks coffee at the table. Then I was off to the garage. I used nxt and sudded up the car and half the driveway. I am not sure how holograms present them selves, but here are some pics. Where these marks smears? I think Scottwax was right, he must have a few tricks up his sleeve with that 16. or maybe i just when a Lil heavy or just needed to go around the car a second time to buff. anyway here are the pics they appear to be gone! I am so relieved, THANK YOU ALL

Verrrry interesting.

I would've put my money on that those marks were buffer haze.

But you proved me wrong...Looks great btw!

GSRstilez, I would have put my money down also! I used QD and MF, and it didn't do anything. But I did notice that they did smear with my finger, as i was checking them out in the sun. I NXT washed and they were gone! I am so relieved.

I know wax smearing when I see it. Don't ask me how.

Glad a wash took care of the problem. :)
