Beer Time

What beer nirvana do you live in? I have never heard of or seen ANY of the beers you name. Do you order them or just happen to live close to the ultimate beer store in the universe?

Today the usual grilling and a very nice Grand Teton Special Reserve brew, Double IPA, very tasty, excellent balance of malts/hops. Too bad it is hard to find.

I have not seen the double IPA before, sounds very good, though. For me it was another Green Flash Barleywine. I really do like this one, one of my favorite barleywines.

Yeah, what always impresses me about his brew list is that he lives in Utah, so it's even harder to get this stuff than it is for the rest of us.

Prost to all!

If you are asking me, I trade and buy on-line.

Yes, I was asking. Now I feel a little better about myself. I was considering moving to wherever it is that you live with all the beers you list!

Tonight a Russian River Pliny The Elder, it's a DIPA, 8% ABV. I got a bottle from a Keg. Pretty hoppy, lots of citrus, piney, and some caramel. It is very tasty, but would still like to get it fresher.

My second brew for the night, Hair of the Dog Fred, a slight twist on the style, but very tasty, highly recommended.

Love this one. It's hard to get so I don't have it very often, but I really like it alot. I've also really wanted to try Pliny the Younger, but haven't come across it yet.

Last night was a Bear Republic Rocket Red Ale, classified as a strong red ale. I liked it, very tasty, easy to drink. Definitely would get it again.

Tonight a Green Flash West Coast IPA, one of the best I've had in a long time, highly recommended.

I drink a lot of their Imperial IPA & Barleywine, but for some reason have always skipped over the regular WC IPA. This is the second very positive recommendation I've gotten for it in less than a week, though. I'll have to pick some up next time.

I know people that have the Pliny the Younger, but it takes alot of a trade to get it, I have not tried yet for a trade. Besides my buddy told me he's heading to CA again so he just might bring back a growler of it, YEAH. I do have a growler of Live Oak Hefe coming in next week I believe, if he ships this week. Hey, TASTY this brew should be right up your alley, it's from TX. Have you tried it yet, it's suppose to be an awesome hefe, one of the best if not the best.

If you like IPAs you will love this brew, I'm positive. Just go get some, how expensive could it be $2 a bottle.

Tonight a bomber of Ska Brewing Nefarious Ten Pin Imperial Porter, it's a pretty tasty brew, ABV hidden very well, nice toffee/coffee/caramel taste.

Tasty you may try going to a "Flying Saucer" in the Dallas area if you want to try some of the beers that John Styrnol talks about.

Tasty, you can always join beeradocate and start trading like me. There are tons of awesome brews out there.

Now that's a new one for me. Imperial Porter, eh? I have to admit, that sounds very good. Looks like they're from Durango... too bad I didn't know about them when I was living in ABQ, made a few trips up to Durango to go skiing. I'll keep an eye out for that one.

Or Baltic Porter. Others I've had: Duck Rabbit Baltic Porter and Flying Dog Gonzo, both very tasty, usually in the 8-9% ABV bracket.

Setup an account, fill out your wants and gots list. As a first time trader, most likely you will have to ship first, since people do not know who you are. I usually BM people that have want I'm looking for, and we go from there. It's real easy/fun/addicting. If you have stuff that people are looking for or are hot items, you will be bombarded with BMs. Go for it, have fun.

jaobrien6,

If you decide to join, let me know what your user name is and I can give you more info. Perhaps we can do a trade to get things started and give you a good rep.

Tonight a bomber of Two Brothers Hop Juice, it's a DIPA, 9.9% ABV. More on the malt side, piney, citrusy, good dose of caramel. Pretty tasty brew.
