Bee poop....

The Jeep Grand Cherokee I am detailing today was covered with "bee poop"...the small globs of yelllow that you find on the paintwork and windows. The owner of the Jeep spent Sunday afternoon at her favorite lawn and garden center buying annuals for her garden, bees pollinate flowers, bee poop is a byproduct of pollination!



I detailed the vehicle last October and had multiple coats of wax on the finish ... it was still beading nicely whern I washed it this morning, and 98% of the "bee poop" came right off...the other 2% was removed with clay.



I have to get myself a digicam and start posting pics!

I have small squiggly burn mark from bee poop on my hood for years now. So I would highly recommend getting if off the paint as soon as you see it. I don't know what's in bee poop to make it so nasty but it is.

A month or so ago it was some guy who had spiders sh#tting all over his car, now its bees.



I can honestly say, I've never identified insect sh#t of any type on my car.

i think that he just means pollen, bees (and light breezes) leave pollen on cars i guess you can call it bee poop :)
 
Agh!! i too am suffering from this plague. Does the bee poop end with the ending of pollen or does it keep going all summer??
 
If it's really bee poop, it would be around for as long as the bees are around, so it wouldn't go away until late fall.



I have a hard time believing that anyone would have a noticeable accumulation of bee poop on a car. I rarely see any bees, wasps, yellowjackets, etc on my car.
 
its only two or three small round spots a day but sure enough if it sits in the sun for more than an hour it produces etching...
 
It has been pretty bad here this spring as well. 5 cool (but not super cold) and wet winters in a row mean a plethora of bugs...which also means bug guts on the front of cars. You should have seen the F-250 I washed this morning. He tipped me $15 because the front end was just caked in dead bugs.
 
Oh thats horrible... I HATE bugs.... But on the other hand i just have to accept the things i can't change... Might look into gettin a car cover to protect from bug poop ha...

I'm not sure that I'd agree with bee's residue (I'm not discounting it, just seems unlikely that they could 'leave' a significant amount) my best guess as it was parked close to a garden centre that would have landscape supplies-



Small black specks (dots)-this could be the spore of artillery fungus (Sphaerobolus) they look very much like tar spots and are usually about 1/10th-inch in diameter. The term artillery refers to the fact that the fungus actively uses energy to shoot its spore masses, sort of like cannon (an artillery piece). It is a fungus that lives in wood-based mulch, the spores are usually shot only a short distance (several feet) but the wind can carry them for longer distances.



Fabric- They can be removed by using a plastic razor blade to scrape and remove the spot and then use a fabric cleaner (303â„¢ Cleaner & Spot Remover)



Paint surface- They can be removed by using a plastic razor blade to scrape and remove the spot and then use a chemical solvent type cleaner (Klasse All-In-One or Autoglym Paint Renovator) to remove the residue.

I have several hives of bees. Yellow globs sounds like bee poop to me. Do be aware that it's quite capable of staining, as my hive bodies show. As long as the weather is warm enough for you to be outside in a light jacket, bees will fly. And as long as her Jeep is near pollin or nectar sources, she's going to have bees flying over it.
 
I was recently doing a detail and wondered where the hell those little yellow turds kept coming from! There was a hedgerow of bushes near where I was, but no trees. They showed up big time on the black car I was doing. One about every five minutes, it sucked.
