Bed bath and beyond towels any good?

according to zaino's site, i should be spending $10-20 a towel to pamper my car...

Well, if you're hung up on the cotton toweling, get cotton MF's from http://www.dftowel.com/ , they are cheaper than they used to be and say they are Zaino approved.

PS When I said earlier I liked the Excel Supreme better than the Elite, I forgot that the Elite has been improved since I first tried it, it's thicker, plusher, and has a softer edging than the original one I tried. I still like the bang-for-buck of the Supreme, but the Elite is a little softer (although I'm still not a big fan of shiny satin edging).

I still use Costco MF's all the time FWIW on certain painted parts. But given the dramatic drop in MF pricing, discounts offered and free shipping, you can get real high quality MF's at a low cost from a variety of places. You spend so much money on your car, so why skimp on genuinely good quality MF? That's why you may hear "they are no good."

As far as cotton goes, it is real tough to find quality, genuine 100% cotton towels. A simple way is to buy one a do the "burn test." Cut off a couple fibers and burn them. If they turn into a black, plastic blob, they aren't 100% cotton. If they turn to a gray ash and disintegrate, they are 100% cotton. Also, you don't know if the edging is 100% cotton or if the sheet of material the loops are stitched into is 100% cotton.

The best source of cotton towels was from CMA a few years ago. They sold the "Koala Buffing Towel." I have a few, but they don't make them anymore.

If you insist on cotton, you can try DF Towel, Griots or Meguiar's.

If you want a cheap source of good quality MF, try Blue Perls or Excel Supremes

Go back to Excel and get a couple Excel Pacific Blue Waffle for paint and a few Excel Sunset Gold for bumpers, rocker panels, and windows.

Keep using your Costcos for door jambs and wheels. Buy some more Costcos and use them in the interior for wiping down, buffing off protectants and buffing leather cleaners and conditioners.

You can also use your new Supremes for spot drying drips and tearing after your dry the whole car.
