Basic Question on the Size of Pads

Ok, so this may be a very Noob question but here goes. For my PC DA polisher (the older model - 7336?), how does the size of the pads make a difference if any. I notice the paradise pads I have in 6.5 inches are now available in 4 inch sizes in the same materials/colors. Now, in reading here, it has struck me that some seem to indicate that a smaller pad may be more aggressive? Can someone explain to me if this is true or how that works?

TIA

Tony

Just basic physics cpt. Smaller surface area, less fatigue on the machine, and a more well distributed weight/pressure on pad. Concentrated work area allows for quicker abrasive break down.

That's sort of what I was thinking. Is there an area where my larger pads have an advantage - maybe glaze or LSP application?

Yeah, for jobs like those where you're not trying to effect abrasion the larger pads will work fine and will cover more ground faster (just don't press down too hard or the machine will merely "jiggle").

Sorry to say, I don't see much use for your larger aggressive pads, they simply don't work well on the PC IME (as I believe I noted in another recent thread were were on).

The 4" ones simply *work* and you actually have to be a little careful. People here that I respect claim to get good results with 5.5" orange pads too, at least with products like M105.
