might not sould like the car you are looking for but check it out plent of upgrades to make it 300hp plus. NOTHING can match the price a similarly equipped BMW 3 would be like 40k+ compared to a fully loaded Acura for 32K. Don't get me wrong I love BMW but they are not the most reliable cars and fixing them cost Much $$$

Check out the Aegean Blue color [/b]</blockquote>
I agree! Its not a BMW but its a great value, and nice engine.

I have been watching on and off the Barrett-Jackson Auction on the Speed network. They really have some great cars that they auction off. The cars are super reflective under the lights. Most of the cars have the apperance of having a couple coats of Zaino. Just wondering if anyone knows the inside scoop on how some of the cars are prepped? A few of the paint jobs look flawless.

The BJ Auction on Speed right now is the January 2009 showing. They are prepping the audience for the "Live" auction the third week of this month.

I've been to BJ several times and it's the world's best car show! These cars are hand picked by Craig Jackson and his staff, and he approves every vehicle prior to the auction.

Every car is in tip top shape when it arrives there, or it doesn't stand a chance of getting in.

As far as prep, Meguiars always has a huge display there, so many of the vehicles get Meg's treatment just prior to being auctioned on stage.

Having been there several times I can say that the place is full of multi-millionaires! The high rollers will buy 2,3, sometimes as many as 6-10 vehicles during the event. Therefore, you see a lot of over inflated prices.

Here in KC, we brag about how cheap we bought a car..... In Scottsdale, they brag about how MUCH they paid!!!!!!!

It's a BLAST! I love going, and I'll probably make the trip next year.

Yep, seen on the tube also. All those multi-millionaires spent alot for cars full of swirls............

I need to move there so I can open a shop and charge big bucks to remove the swirls for those multi-millionaires.............:wizard:

Mike Phillips, ex-Meguiars, has been there and done a little detailing. I seem to recall him saying many of the cars were not prepped to obsessive detailer level. There may be an old thread on MOL with him and someone else polishing out a couple of older cars just before they went across the block.

I know there is at least one detailing shop who is set up at the event; can't recall their name but they are based in the Phoenix area (natch).

I know the cars they sell are in fabulous condition, but are they detailed to the highest level possible? I don't know as I haven't been there, but having attended SEMA several times, I can tell you many cars are not detailed to perfection.

Finally, I think Mothers supplies the detailing product used by B-J staffers just before the cars hit the stage.

Correct.... the vehicles that are detailed to perfection are usually fresh restorations with brand new paint. Detailing for CLEANLINESS is of paramount importance, but paint perfection is rarely ever noticed. If it's super clean, that's what they're looking for.:banghead:
