Bargain On Wash Bucket

I was in my local Big-Lots yesterday and I bought a wash bucket that is rectangular in shape. I have trouble getting my wash brush in a round 5 gal. bucket but it will go in this one.
It has a 4 gal. capacity with a shelf at each end to lay a brush or mitt on.
It has carrying handles that fold down over the ends and it comes with a removable grit guard.. The price is not $39.95 like others it is $3.99 :D

Thanks we have one here will check them out this weekend, really I like that store, you have to go alot as things come and go but you can get some great deals

Are there multiple colors or just one? It sounds a bit like the red Black Magic buckets (red in color, kind of helmet shaped) that were out there for a while. That one had several problems for me, hopefully this one is better.

I agree that Big Lots can produce some gems, but mine also has a lot of "junk" (for lack of a better description). I was disappointed that the Long Haul product clearance never made it through my area, but the Meg's brush collection did. :)

The big Lots here, SUCK. They used to carry a huge selection of car care products, but now, it is mainly oils and such....I quit going for a while...

Thanks for the 411 on the bucket. I'll have to go check out my Big Lots, but the one by me is pretty sucky as well. Although they did get the Meguiar's brushes. :)

I haved a red Black Magic bucket from Big Lot's, must be the one your talking about, was 3.99 and has the same spots to lay stuff on eitehr end. The bucket is good, the grit guard that comes with it is worthless, mine won't stay down and floats so I just use it to lay stuff on while I'm washing lol, its like a mini table lol.

Not much choice at the one here in town either. I once saw the STP Rain Shield or what ever name it had there years ago and I had tried it. Big mistake. I went back to RainX when I use window treatments, which is rare.

Yes the one that I bought is a black magic. I have not used it yet but from what you say I think I will tie a weight to the grit guard to keep it on the bottom or drill a small hole in each of those hollow pieces that it is made of then it would fill with water and could not float.
I like the fact that it is wide so I can use my wash brush.

I may run to the one here today to see what they DO NOT have in again...lol

I'd love to pick up another bucket or 2, but I doubt they have any...

I have 3 Big Lots stores within a 5-mile radius of my house and they all had the bucket. They're all out now, but at the time they were selling it, they also had the accompanying "caddy" which fit into it, allowing you to carry 2 bottles. Here's a pic of the bucket:

JMO, but $4 is just about what that bucket is worth. This opinion was formed just by handling it it the store and not actual usage, so my perception of the product might be completely incorrect. But, it seemed to be made of a very cheap (and possibly brittle) plastic. A 4 gallon capacity also seemed pretty optimistic. I also questioned the practicality of the "grit guard" device. Storage also presented a problem for my use.

Has anyone had one of these buckets in service for any length of time? What has been your experience with durability? If I were using a wash brush and needed a rectangular shaped bucket, I would at least consider the one by RubberMaid (I think) that is also branded by Ettore for use by window washers. Those are substantial buckets that should take the use and abuse of regular/extended use.

I've had one for about a year and it's fine.
