Bar Keepers Friend on exhaust

Hey everyone, even though this product is normally used in my kitchen on pots and pans, it says it can also be used in the garage. I did a search for it, but could not find much about using it on cars. I see some people used it to clean the windows on their cars, but nothing about using it as a metal polish which is what it is designed for. It is a powdered cleaner with an abrasive in it. I used it to clean my stainless tips on my RX-8 and it worked very well. I have recently traded that in for an STi and am thinking about using it again on my exhaust. Seeings how the Subie is a little more expensive and new to me, I want to be a little more careful. Any reason I shouldn't continue to use it on my exhausts as long as their stainless steel? I can see where it may be a no go on chrome or other plated metals/wheels, but for stainless steel I think it works great. I tried using some Eagle One Never Dull the other day, which did an OK job, but there are still some specs of black that are stuck on there, and it didn't really make it shine that well like Bar Keepers did. Anyone else use BKF on their exhausts or is it not a good idea?

I hate using never dull. Just never liked the results I get with it. For something OTC I like the mothers mag and aluminum polish. Would really like to try some OPT metal polish though.

Yeah, I used the wadding kind of Never Dull (not sure if they even make any other kind) and while it cleaned it up some, just didn't really get the exhaust to really shine. And like I said, it also didn't clean everything off of it either. I'm hoping others can chime in on BKF.

Never Dull is not a cleaner, its a polish, and not a very good one! BKF is an abrasive, thats why it will get the spots off of your exhaust. After you use the BKF to clean it, follow up with a polish... even Never Dull will work!... I personally use Speedy polish, but there are tons of good polishes out there. If you keep up with the polishing, you'll never have to use the BKF again... but if you use it all the time, you will even dull out the stainless!!!

Thanks, Knight. This is the kind of info I was after. I obviously do not want to do damage to my exhaust over time. Is there another good cleaner that you know of to use before Speedy Polish or Never Dull?

I use acid, and 0000 steel wool on stainless... the BKF is fine also... once you get it clean, keep it clean, it will take a lot of scrubbing to dull stainless!
