Baltimore or Bust

"Luck" Residue of design
Back in 1986 a co worker during lunch break played a Frank Zappa album for me at his home. I liked what I was hearing and began to collect some FZ albums. Over the years I read his books and amassed over 100 of his albums. Sadly Frank Zappa died of prostate cancer in late 1993.

Several years ago Frank's son Dweezel Zappa had arranged and begun touring the world doing a show called Zappa plays Zappa. Several times I tried to purchase tickets to that show but they were always sold out before I got the word of the show.:wall One time I made the statement that I wanted to see Zappa plays Zappa before I died.

Tomorrow morning I leave out for Baltimore where "they" will be dedicating a bust of Frank Zappa to celebrate his compositional genius and to remember his perseverance in protecting our first amendment rights of freedom of speech.

After the bust dedication at the Enoch Pratt Free Library, Dweezel and friends will take the stage for a free showing of Zappa plays Zappa!!! I hope Steve Vai is going to be on that stage!!!:rockon

Now I am pretty excited about all of this but can't stop thinking about what I said those years ago, "I want to see Zappa plays Zappa before I die." So along with the excitement I am a bit nervous as well.

Thanks for reading, TD:yay:rockon:confused::bigups

The thought of Frank Zappa makes me smile. The guy marched to his own beat and, at least outwardly, didn't care a whit what others thought.

Enjoy your trip and give us a concert review upon your return.

I had a counslor who played Joe's garage all the time in the summer of the 80's and to this day when I hear it, it brings back breat memories. i had not heard it for awhile and it is playing as I type this.

have fun, be safe.

I know exactly how you feel TD. I made a comment about how I was going to attend my high school reunion or die trying. Five weeks before I flew to the reunion I had unscheduled emergency open heart surgery to replace my valves in my heart.

I am not as cavalier as I once was so I don't make statement s of that nature any longer. LOL!

Well I went and it was the most incredible performance that I have ever seen and I have been to a lot of concerts. Was there for the sound checks and the unveiling of the bust and the entire show. Somehow I managed to stay in the front row through it all. I just realized that I can't die yet because I Have to see it again!!! I saw Alice Cooper incognito and wasn't sure it was him until he smiled. Also saw Dee Snyder carousing around in the crowd. It was an awesome day of music, tribute and perfect weather too.
