Ouch. Sometimes nice hardware gets in the wrong hands. As a Porsche/BMW high performance driving instructor, I wish a few classes were mandantory for all drivers.

You and me both, Brad, you and me both :sadpace:

Week after next I'm off for my biennial retraining/recertification...perishable skills and all that.

As much as they might help, lots of people just don't give a crap. You could make them take years of training only to hit the road and paint their nails while talking on the phone. IMO we need stiffer penalties for accidents. In VA you get jail time for speeding over 90, nothing for causing an accident. Its clear what is more important to the state.

Well, I'd hope that the training would be enough of an eye-opener as to make them change their ways (hey, hope springs eternal).

OR...that there were a genuine comptence threshhold, something reasonable but still beyond the idiot-level stuff they do now.

The one that gets me- somebody with "Street Racing Syndicate" on his windshield who wrecked his car...[insert predictable comment here]...

Actually, what really gets me is that those [individuals] probably involved other people in their mayhem, like that white Hyundai that looks like it got innocently rear-ended.

Man... looks like several probably fatal wrecks in that bunch.... :(

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The Honda right underneath the 350....hard to believe someone would have walked away from that.

Check this site out if you really want to see carnage

Salvage Cars for sale - Damaged Cars - Project Cars - Copart | EasyExport.US

pay special attention to the cars and trucks that say chemical/biohazard

They had a used 2006 Acura MDX for sale a year ago.perfect condtion, but it looked as though someone went Residen Evil inside that truck, blood from ceiling to floorboards. I wanted to buy it so bad because it was going for 5.000 dollars. Dad talked me out of it. I jnow something bad happened in it but i couldnt resist the price.

Wow G'kar, that would have been a tough car to deal with. I could probably buy it and drive it after it was sanitized, but not if I really looked closely at it beforehand. Just looking at the center console from the picture, I don't think I could sit in it and not have that image run through my head.

That Lincoln emblem sticking out of the Subaru hood is hilarious being stuck in the middle of the carnage pics.

Took that one at the body shop of a Lincoln-Subaru dealer. I guess he couldn't affford a Lincoln?

Amazing how many innocent people get killed or crippled each year because of idiots like that. Makes me paranoid every time the wife & kids leave the house.

Oh yeah, most were pretty much totalled, but several were obvious fatalities.

I'm an Auto Appraiser, so these get the pleasure of inspecting carnage daily.

Alot of these cars were seen @ Co-Part in West Palm Beach. They are the world's largest salvage auction and actually just opened their doors to the public. Prior to this change, you had to have a dealer or salvage liscense to shop there.

Send 'em to some place like Tony Scotti's Vehicle Dynamics Institute - Protective Driving Training

You should see the change that their one-day "Accident Avoidance" class makes, really something to watch the lightbulbs come on, especially with the younger students.

Yeah, yeah..."TOO EXPENSIVE!"...nah, :grinno: besides the "what value do you put on life?" issue, consider the insurance consequences of just one wreck.

[OK, OK, Accumulator climbs down off his soapbox..]

Your soapbox is justified, as well as dan's.. Drivers in VA, esp Hampton Roads area are rediculous. I have experience on the DC beltway as well, and all along the I95 corridor - it seems most accidents are caused by people driving too fast in a hurry to get a few spaces up the gridlock caused by an earlier accident..
