Autopian nightmare...Lifted Black Dodge Ram

I saw it in the thread. Very nice work, man. You're kicking its A$$! Can't wait to see the finished product! :xyxthumbs

EDIT: Time to start on the frame next! :grinno:

Great idea...Now it's in that thread

I'm almost done with one side of the truck. Inspired by Tdekany and Got Leather's work on the horrid Z06, I grabbed my 100% lambswool pad and had at the finish with HTEC, followed by edge green wool and SIP, then edge foam blue as a finisher with 106FF. Here's a before/after:

Removing all of the polish residue is becoming very annoying, despite using an automotive wax/grease remover on the finish to speed it up. I can't wait to use a paint cleaner on it (I used to go from polish straight to poliseal, but I've noticed streaking). Pulling the truck out into the sun, I was very happy to notice a lack of halograms, as I used to produce those using the rotary in the past.

Eisenhulk...I might as well spray paint them black :)

Thanks everyone for looking. Your support provides me with the motivation to do the best I can. Here are some pics of today's brief session, as I had to turn in the Crossfire as the lease has expired. These areas where polished as mentioned before, with the addition of poliseal to clean-up the areas. Note...The lower areas will be polished last, and the deep scratches near the tailight are down to the primer.

Whoa! Great job so far. That thing is going to be sweet when you're complete.

I like the exhaust pipes too! :xyxthumbs

thats not a detail...thats paint restoration...

holy crap...unless you are charging 500+ you are not getting what you deserve! I took on a VW jetta in that condition for a friend, charged only 150 for interior and exterior...I am NEVER doing that one again! lol

good work!!!!

Forgive me but, I checked the acronym thread, what is HTEC?

Great job on the correction! Amazing results!

Oh yeah how did you end up removing the overspray?

hi temp extreme cut....its a medium to heavy compound....heavy being M105 and medium being SIP

hi tech extreme cuts just as much as 105, 105 MIGHT finish down a little nicer but it definately does not cut more than HTEC.

It was my first time using HTEC for an entire vehicle. Previously, I used it on a neglected RX-7 without much satisfaction (just look up RX-7 disaster). The oxidized surface made it difficult to remove, and it seemed to dry-up quickly. But, this time around the product was great. It cut well and fast, and dusting wasn't a major issue, especially compared to my Menzerna Dust Storms. It was my first time using the lambswool pad and frankly, without it my job would take twice as long. We finished last night meaning no good sun shots of the finished product. This morning I took some pics but the hazy sun wasn't cooperating. The vehicle was finished with poliseal and Duragloss AW because it was getting late. If the weather plays nice I might add some Natty's Paste Wax for the extra pop today. Either way, the paint was certainly transformed to a non-reflecting grey (due to work abuse) to a deep black shine, and that was the major goal of this project. The stacks were polished with Brasso, tires were dressed with Armor All Tire Foam, and the rims were cleaned and protected with Klasse All in One. Here are some final pics. Enjoy everyone and thank-you for looking and commenting.
