Autopiaforums VS AG

Autogeek Online and Autopia Forums (as well as both supporting stores: Autogeek and Autopia-CarCare) are owned by Palm Beach Motoring Group in Stuart Florida.

It is similar to how General Motors owns Cadillac and Chevrolet.

Autopia Forums is an open forum where any product discussion is allowed and encouraged. The forum (and as a result the store) are more open and we have (the forum members) have more direct control over the direction of this forum.

While there is some obvious overlap, we have talented people at PBMG who share double duties, similar to an engineer at GM who designed several Pontiacs before working on the C6 Corvette. This is a good thing as it gives up incredible resources in which to build the forum and store with. However they are run as separate entities.

Remember that this concept is still young (as far as forums and stores go) and the future is only going to get better.

Yes, and the future looks great for this forum.

So let me ask a question, being new, not sure about forum etiquette:

I'm sure many of you have developed friendships (hopefully someday I also will) through this or other forums. If I find a great deal on a product or products at some other website due to a huge sale discount or clearancing out a product line, and I want to pass it on to my friends, is it not proper to put it somewhere on this or other forums? I mean if Autopia is good enough to have this forum here for us, I wouldn't want to screw them up, but on the other hand I would like to inform my friends. Would I need to do that through private messaging or whatever it's called?

I can only speak for this forum so...

First, great question. If there is a sale on products we sell at another store, you are more than welcome to post it BUT remember that we (autopia-carcare.com) have a price match guarantee. We will meet or beat that price so there is no need to go anywhere else!

If it is a product line that we do not carry you can post it on the forum or through PM's. This is an open forum and we will not hold it against you. This forum provides us (autopia-carcare.com) with a valuable tool to sharpen our interaction with our customers. We also take pride in the price match so please take us up on our offer.

Thanks Todd for the clarification. Being new I didn't know that Autopia had a price match guarantee. That's good news! I will definitely keep this in mind for the future.

It has been my experience that this forum has long been a venue for openly discussing a wide range of products, including those not marketed through one of the PBMA (or Detail City store before that) outlets (though they have a wide variety of product lines covered :)). You can check the forum rules and you'll find no mention of restricting open discussions. The obvious exceptions would be shilling/spamming etc.;)

I like the fact you can post about other products. Reason why I post here more.

I presently frequent and post on numerous detailing forums. I try to respect the various host and remember that I'm a guest there and act accordingly. I first came here when this forum was "Detail City". It was comfortable here without fear of sponsors demanding there be no mention of competitors products. With the transformation to Autopia Forums , Todd and his group of mods have done a good job of continuing and expanding on this direction. Time will tell how all of this eventually plays out but I like what I see so far.:bigups

AG has more traffic for sure. I prefer to post mostly on that forum just because I know I will get more feedback. Lately though it has been a quantity over quality kind of thing over there. Lots of people posting, but it's the same stuff over and over. All in all I think both forums are good, but for different reasons.

A lot of people either don't know how or don't want to use the search function.

Thankfully that's not a huge problem here. A couple motorcycle forums I post at have huge issues with noobs asking the same questions over and over, which infuriates the senior members, leading to a flame war. Not the most friendly of environments. I can honestly say this is the friendliest forum Im a member of.

Yes, I was a AG only guy for quite sometime I dabbled with a few of the others but always seemed to end up back at AG. But now I'm finding myself here quite a bit more probably 50/50. There's a ton of information there and a lot of very nice helpful people there and a lot of them are here also, so that's a definate plus, but there is limited product discussion, although I do have to say they have just about everything you could ever really need. But after spending quite a bit of time there, probably way too much lol I do see the same things posted over and over again just worded a few different ways. Really how many times can the "what's the best QD" be posted? But I guess with the amount of volume they have that's to be expected.

I like the open forum that we have here. AG is a nice forum but you can only discuss products they sell. There are a lot of other products that we just can't talk about over there.

They have a lot of traffic and that's a plus but like was already said its a lot of the same questions being posted over and over again
