Autopia New Homepage Threads TINY Section

i miss the old layout and i definitely don't care for all the ads, especially the ones where a window pops up for certain keywords linking to an Ultima product. This is probably just the beginning of the decline of this site. With the direction they seem to be heading in, I have a feeling this won't be the Autopia many of us have come to know and love.

But at the same time, this is still a free site and we're still able to discuss about any products (at least for now) so I guess I have no right to complain. Someone or something has to pay for the bandwidth. I feel though that members of this board would have been more than happy to contribute enough funds to cover for that part. I guess making money off of autopia-carcare.com wasn't enough, so now we have 2 seperate businesses.

Besides the heavier commercialism we're seeing on this board, just the overall look of the forum has gotten worse. I've somewhat acclimated to it, but I still believe the fonts are way too small. I wear glasses, but I still have decent eyes considering I'm only 28. Since the upgrade I've noticed myself posting less and less.

I really miss the previous version. The new site has lost its "community" .. "homey" feeling that the old had. I don't see how this is any improvement except to be more commerialized. Sadly, it seems that with every new change, the site loses what made it such a good community and site to visit. I really really dislike the new Autopia.. i can't see myself coming here much more.. time will tell but it's soo cluttered and soo un user friendly.

Does anyone know of any other good detailing forums that i should be checking out that are car manufacturer based?

Nice.. i just tried replying in this thread and it gave me an error thread and when i hit "back" the post information was gone..

The really hate the new site so far. I guess time will tell if I get "used" to it..

What other sites do people check out for car detailing that are not:

1. Car manufacturer oriented i.e. like a BMW forum with a good detailing section

2. Not an online retailer with restrictive rules ala autogeek

This original thread was started 2 years ago and I can't remember differences from back then. But hey, I resist change with the best of the resisters ;) , and this newest change seems more about colors and icons than any loss of info that I can tell.

Like I said in my reply here 2 years ago maybe my browser (Firefox) shields me from a lot of ads, but I still don't see a lot of ads cutting into threads :nixweiss

I don't like change but I guess I'll have to get used to it. :scared:

What I really don't like is the removal of the reviewer name in the product reviews section. :angry

I've been here long enough to know who does great work and whos opinion of products I can trust.

The way it is now it just lists the person as guest reviewer, that stinks ! :furious:

I want to know the person giving the review is fair and knows what they are talking about and I can determine this by reading other reviews or post by this same person. The current system could allow me to post two reviews for the same product, one praiseing it and another bashing it and no one would be the wiser. :hmph:

Thanks for the comments. Perhaps should be a new thread so it doesnt mix with the 2 year old comments. We are working on the integration of the review with the forums so it shows user names again. Could not do that before the switch to the new version. Should be working soon.
