Autopia Moderators

Hi all: I've been a member here for several years, read a lot before that, and spent a lot of money on products recommended here. LOL. I don't post a lot, but I read a lot of the posts here. You can learn more sometimes by being quiet and listening. I felt the need to post this because of one of the moderators here, TortoiseAWD!!! You were posting on a thread about DACP and, as you said, a confrontational tone was used by another member, and I agree with you about the tone of the post. What greatly impressed me was the friendly, but firm manner in which you dealt with your concern. I've been to a lot of forums, and I can't say I've ever been a member of a better run and more helpfull one. HATS OFF to you Tort and the other moderators here. What a pleasure it always is to come on this site.

Not sure what subject this post should be in, feel free to move it if you wish.

agreed...the mods here do an excellent job of keeping the community "pure". autopia has one of the friendliest online attitudes i've ever been a part of. it's nice to not have to wade through drama and pettiness... :)

Agreed, Autopia's a nice place to be. Ridiculous levels of knowledge, respect, and willingness to help others and not just say SEARCH! haha

Like a well ref'ed football game, the moderators here do a great job because they do it without creating a stage for themselves. They go about their business unnoticed but perform their tasks remarkably well.

Excellent job guys/gals!!! :xyxthumbs

that is true, the mods here are courteous and mature enough to actually give you a warning before just banning you for an offense you weren't even aware you made. I really do appreciate that, even if I don't 100% agree with their interpretation of my offense.

On most other forums I'm on mods don't even bother warning or even telling you what they banned you for. It's ridiculous.

Thanks, guys. I'm more used to getting cussed at; this is a rare experience for me. :)

In turn, I'd like to thank all the level-headed members (the vast majority of Autopia) out there who refuse to feed the trolls, and thank those who occasionally make our job of moderating unnecessary by heading off an incipient flamewar with a well-thought-out post.

Tort

(feasting on the blood of spammers)

:2thumbs: All of the mods do a great, and often thankless, job. I appreciate all of the work you guys put in to make everything run smoothly.

Tort, you want me to PM you with a bunch of profanity? So you feel more at home? :nana: LMAO, great work guys, keep it up.......

I also appreciate the mods letting people speak their minds and having civilized debates while at the same time knowing when to draw the line. Thanks to all and to David B..

Patrick you stole my line !

I thought any second I was going to hear Tort say "Yea" except for Changeling's rantings/outbursts, things usually run pretty smooth:grinno:

Changeling

In my sponge for learning, I joined 5 detailing forums, two were product run forums - Zaino and Meg's, they're ok but you don't get the wide variety of products discussed, one was so dead, you could go for days without much happening and one was based in the UK - this ol redneck can't understand that English slang. I've deleted Z and DC, still glance at Meg's for Mike's articles, but Autopia is the best!

Yes! Good job Tort... I witnessed the thread the OP is referring to and you were on all over it :2thumbs:

I frequent two message boards but look at Autopia 99% of that time. I never imagined a detailing board would bring so many people together to discuss the topics that are discussed here. I feel I found my "niche" or comfort site due to others attitudes and actions being similar to mine. Where else will you find the nicest members who are as OCD about most things as we are? :nixweiss :grinno:

The members of Autopia are certainly the best!

blkZ28Conv hit the nail on the head. A well-officiated athletic event is one where the officials allow the teams involved to see who is best, without setting a stage for themselves.

I know because I spent five hours today officiating a college tennis match between two ranked, Division I teams. It was close, but the best team won by a hair, and there were no complaints afterwards.

That's how Autopia is. The moderators do a great job, without setting a stage for themselves.

I did read another comment on this thread about "friendly but firm." That's another great comment. I have spent 32 years as a schoolteacher with that attitude, and it has worked. That is how it has been on this forum.

I guess what I really want to say is that Autopia is part of my lifestyle, which is a neat thing.

Thanks to everyone involved!

Great thread.

I have been here a while now, and although I dont post much I do read a lot. Autopia has a unique feel to it amongst all the forums I frequent and DavidB has chosen mods who operate to keep the good vibe alive.

IMHO, forums, like companies have a personality and attitude which comes from the top and manifests it's way down the chain of command. Autopia is no exception and all the people from Davidb down should be very proud of this place.

So from me, thank you to you all for providing great place to come and visit and great resource............now where did I leave that tub of wax.

Cheers

Dave.

I wish my other forum (Evolutionm.net) was this well organized...on there, it's pretty much a Mob, and the only people who are in with the Mob of moderators and forum owners are a few certain Vendors.

Hat's off you all the guys who make this happen, and especially, as aforementioned, David B; it takes a person who truly cares and loves detailing to have such a forum for people worldwide.
