Autopia Detailer's Directory

Pat,

You have to have AwStats or one of the other web log analyzers installed. Most web hosting plans come with one of the cheap-o (free) products for checking your web hits and traffic.

I don't find my web hosting service provides the most accurate information. To keep tabs on visitors, I use a service called Stat Counter and it's located at StatCounter Free invisible Web tracker, Hit counter and Web stats. It's completely free, you just need to upload the code to your site.

All the pro's here should be jumping on this. I've linked the directory to one of the largest message boards on the internet.

Just some quick stats on that site:

Not to get off-topic but you must never have visited 4chan! I have been a member of off-topic.com but I spend way more time on nasioc.com which is the #1 subaru site on the web and one of the largest forums on the web too.

(off-topic.com is the #1 vbulliten forum, nasioc is 13)

Pretty much. :D

OT started off as the offtopic forum on honda-acura.net but was more popular than the main forums. Chris Webmaster (admin of h-a.net and purveyor of Finish First, a Liquid Glass knock off) couldn't handle the off topic forum being more popular than the technical side of the board, so the moderator of the off topic forum made it into its own website.

Unlike most forums, the off topic forum (like the Hot Tub here) is the main forum and all the rest (including the detailing forum, "that'll buff right out") are all considered subforums.

Rated #9 on Big Boards- Forums Rankings - all software forums, all languages language, website ranking by posts but it would be higher if they didn't prune the main forum every few days. Much higher. Tons of traffic, should give the autopia directory lots of traffic once members there find out about it.

Make sure you link the directory on nasioc.com then. We need to support Autopia and our fellow professionals. :)

Tomorrow after my yard work, I will PM all the moderators on the different forums where I'm a member and inquire about linking the Autopia directory.

I sell alot of used car parts, had to google my username to find all the forums. :idea

Man, I must be blind because I can't find out how to edit my listing or post any pics. There is no edit option on my listing. Can anyone help a guy out??

ok thanks David got it going. I did add 3 images which do show up but I was hoping to have an image in the listing instead of the "no image avaliable". How can I do this?

man the heat must have gotten to me today, I can't seem to figure anything out.

Thanks for the help, I got it now.

David,

I've been messing around with the search criteria, and it does not work? is this coming online later?

When I try to search just using the state name nothing is found.

When I try to search just using the zip nothing is found.

When someone rates this ad, what is the criteria for Excellent, VG, G, fair, poor. I see some very good detailers with very poor ratings, are people just being vindictive or uninformed to the ratings?

I sure hope you drop all the lousy ads that don't have any images or extensive info. I hate looking through all the ads and seeing a MAJORITY with no intro image and lack detailied info (kind of ironic from DETAILERS).

Thanks for the efforts on your end to make this happen.

I am curious as well because mine has one rating of 1 star. I have a new business to the area with a new name and my only clients so far have been friends and word of mouth. It really gets me peeved that someone will 'rate' me while having no experience with my business. Is there anything that can be done about it?

I noticed the same problem, it only brings a result by exact zip code.

David, rather than parse results by city/state it may be much simpler by area code or zip (if $ZIPSEARCH=06084 return $ZIP=06***). Right? Maybe?

I agree somewhat- if you don't have the graphics at least put something up there. Prices, products used, experience- anything besides just a name/address to let customers know more about your business than who the check goes to.
