Part 1 - Clematis Street
Ok first, some information on the new location....welcome to my old stomping grounds
There are basically 3 hot spots in the area for great eating. Two of them you can see on the map below. Clematis Street (or downtown wpb) and City Place.
Both are very close to the Convention Center, and both will be very busy at night - especially on the weekends.
Clematis street (pictured above) is the more dynamic of the two. Mild in the day, wild in the night. Filled with late night discotek clubs with loud music and laser beams. If you plan on going there at night, stay in groups or at least travel in pairs. There are a lot of dark side streets and shady characters offering services or looking for some free cash. While the quality of food isn`t as high or as plentifual as City Place, the first restaurant that came to mind was located here...
Rocco`s Tacos and Tequila Bar
If you`re claustrophobic or don`t like rubbing elbows with the locals, don`t go here. 99% of every weekend night, this place is packed and for great reason. Great, although typical texmex food, great drinks and shots, and the best Guac you`ll ever try. This gets my vote for the "fun night". If there`s going to be a fun night without a care for the hangover, this would be a great spot.
P.s. If the owner Rocco is in town, he`s known to give free generous shots to anyone who like him, is bald. Or close enough to bald. I guess shaved heads count
There`s also Duffy`s on Clematis which is a great cheaper option with a ton of TV`s and awesome service. Maybe a good lunch spot?
Kabuki Sushi is an amazing sushi spot on Clematis, but quiet and close quarters. Maybe a better date spot than an Autopia meet spot.
The Alchemist - Gastropub and Bar - another top choice for me. While the dinner prices might be too steep for our annual get together, the lunch prices might fit the bill. If you`re like me and enjoy a well made cocktail and burger, this is the spot.
Other than that, Clematis is filled with decent pizza by the slice spots and average restaurants. Grease Burger gets an honorable mention, but fall short for me. You can get a better, cheaper, faster burger imo at Five Guys over at City Place.
Part 2 City Place coming tomorrow
