The Autopia community needs vendors to help keep our hobby/work exciting and to fuel ("fund") the community itself. We have more small vendors on Autopia than large, so the community needs to change to cater to these vendors. I will do just that ASAP.
So, detail fans, this is what we're going to do:
1. Autopia sponsorship will convert to a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) model. It seems to be the way of the world. Any and all vendors will be able to create a PPC account and manage their own banners and search terms.
2. Any vendor with a an open PPC account will be able to submit 5 items for inclusion in the current "Autopia Buyer's Club Specials" page and 5 items for inclusion in the ABC mailer (twice a month).
3. Vendors with an open PPC account will be given an account on Autopia Reviews to manage their own items for review.
4. Vendors with an open PPC account will be given their own forum area for open discussion of their products, service, etc.
5. Interested Autopians will be able to opt-in and opt-out of the ABC mailing list at any time.
As a result of re-thinking the Autopia support model, I will stop the e-book subscriptions. Anyone who subscribed in the past 30 days can request a full credit for use in the Autopia Car Care store. Anyone who subscribed in the past year may request a free UPS shipping coupon. Anyone who purchased the premium subscription will retain their discount coupon benefit.
Vendors: As you might imagine, creating this opportunity will require a lot of work (up front and ongoing) for me. Autopians are a passionate audience, making each click through a good (no, great!) value. As a result, our "No SPAM" and commercial activity policy (outside of the vendor forums) will be strictly and swiftly enforced, with a true "three strikes and you're out" rule.
I believe this change in our community wil be a huge benefit to both enthusiasts and vendors and will add a new level of excitement and interaction.
Stay tuned!
