Autogeek Wash Bucket Kit

Checked out the complete wash bucket kit from AG with the dolly and the seat cushion....just wondering how this kit really is.

The seat cushion really appeals to me, especially for doing those lower panels and wheels.

Any experiences/feedback?

I'm not really one to buy/avoid products based on price, but this kit seems a bit unnecessary to me. I'd grab a grit guard online for $10, a couple of homer buckets from home depot for another $10, and call it a day. You can get the little pads random places too - I have some that I use for kneeing down in canoes. I can't remember where I got them but I do remember they were just a few dollars. Try walmart in the outdoor section maybe. I don't use a wheel dolly because my driveway is on a slight incline so it is less hassle just to grab the handle and move the bucket.

So I'd skip the $85 shipped on the autogeek kit, do an equally effective $30 setup, and apply the "extra" $50 to some products.

I have purchased the essentials of the AG kit: AG buckets, dolly, cushion, gamma seal lids, etc. If you can them on a sale at AG (use autopia code, free shipping period), it will be a reasonable purchase. Yes, you can assemble the same parts elsewhere but you pay a premium for convenience but it depends on how cost conscious you are. That is, if you get it on discount/free shipping, it is not a bad deal.

It's one of those things that "looks" better than it works, I have essentially the same stuff that I put together over the years.

poorboy's has a similar kit but you get no dolly or seat cushion. Any thoughts?

When does AG have sales?

I picked up 2 five gallon buckets from Home Depot for $5. And I personally don't think the dolly is that necessary. Can you really not pick up the bucket and move it? I don't even find myself moving the bucket THAT much anyways. Just my two cents.

I find the dollies useful as well as the gamma seal lids. As for the cushion, I don't find the bucket sits low enough to be useful to me in most cases as a stool. You can source the bits cheaper from places like US Plastics.

My thoughts exactly .. first off I don't spend enough time in one spot to sit down ... bend over its good for you . I move the bucket about 4/5 times and I just use the 2 1/2 gallon ones. Also I made my own grit guard for $8 ... buy an egg crate lense for a 2 x 4 flourecent fixture. cut the appropriate sized circles out of it .. there is more than enough for 2 x in each pail.

I really like the idea of the lid and the casters are also nice. Any idea when AG has sales?

You just have to wait. They have BOGO's on the buckets maybe 2x per year and then you do it during a free shipping period.

Phil at Detailer's Domain sells a 2 bucket kit with a dolly as well.
