Here are the details of the tax deduction as of right now.

"Congress Approves Extension of Tax Deduction for Tsunami Donations

Congress on January 6 unanimously passed a bill (HR 241) that
permits accelerated tax deductions for charitable cash donations
made to assist victims of the recent tsunami. The legislation will
now head to President Bush for his signature.
Specifically, the bill allows taxpayers to claim a tax deduction in
tax year 2004 for donations made for tsunami disaster relief until
January 31, 2005. Under current law, taxpayers would have to wait
until next year's filing season to claim a tax deduction for tsunami-
related gifts made after December 31, 2004. The proposal is limited
to cash gifts made specifically for disaster relief."

thanks for the tax clarification ....

latest high bid is $50

keep it coming folks :headbang

ok latest bid is $55...:D

I can see this will eventually be a large donation from me:bigups

you should do this more often steve!

Zesty i'd prefer not to ever see events like this that would cause such a great need from all over the world to respond, but I will probably do some more for other charities during the year that I highly believe in, such as Children's Cancer Research and family funds(most people have no idea what finacial stress is like until you have a child, spouce or parent in the hospital under possible terminal conditions, and work is the last thing on your mind),sorry for the rant:dunno The Make A Wish foundation , that does unbelievable work for kids as well as families, American Cancer Society, there are so many choice out there , and so many problems.

How could that possibly be a rant??? Those are the words of a passionate parent who has been through, and continues to move forward from, what only a small fraction of human beings could truly understand. I sit on the board for Wish Upon a Star (local version of Make a Wish), work closely with Children's Cancer Research and St. Judes Children's Hospital (my group just raised over $130K in 2 days, a new record), and yet both of my kids are healthy... aside from a bout of viral meningits early on, which changed my life forever. Nothing like having last rites administered to your child to set your priorities straight real quick. You've earned your passion, Steve... no apologies required.

Dang. I forgot about the auction; I went to grab lunch with SilverLexus and check out his Vac N Blo & new rotary. It looks like it is getting a bit steepfor me....$50 was my limit. I'll have to wait for the wheel sealant to be released so I can buy it.

Steve thanks for doing this.

the new highest bid is $85
thanks for understanding about the rant and that is a great thing you do:bigups

Still at $85 as high bid...come on people 16oz Wheel Sealant, tax deductable...we can do better:headbang

WOW :bigups Thats too much for me but I think its great! Way to go Steve and too all the high bidders.

I would bid a high amount, except I am 19 and would not get any back. I know that's kinda selfish..but, if I could claim it all...I would donate ALOT.
