Aston Martin Vanquish

This is a friends brother's car and was my project for today. Whilst it gets cleaned on a failry regular basis, that only extends to a wash and dry - I don't think it has seen any love and care since he bought it new back in 2002.

The inside was a challenge as well becasue it was so tight and has the worlds hardest rear window to clean. All interior surfaces are leather as well so that took some time to get clean.

I haven't got any before shots as the light was terrible, and the after shots aren't great as it was parked in a fairly tight space, but you get the idea. I'll hopefully get some better shots soon as this car is supposed to be the "cover car" for my website.

Process was:

NXT wash

Clay Magic blue (it used a whole bar there was that much crap on it!) with NXT wash as lube

SSR2.5 with Sonus DAS Green

AIO with Sonus DAS Green

EX-P by hand

AIO on windows/trim/window rubbers

Meg's Endurance High Gloss on tyres

AG leather cleaner and conditioner

AG interior shampoo

AG Fast glass

I also picked up his Bentley Arnage T to detail. Hopefully he'll also let me loose on the 360 Spider, 996 Turbo Cab, Range Rover and Aston Martin LM600 Vantage that he also has!

:bow Gorgeous work and one of my fave cars. I wish the pictures were more sunny but you can't control the weather can you?!

I know from Todd's Solara that EXP works great on silver. :)

Forget the detail, that's one heck of a car collection :shocked

Awesome job :xyxthumbs Very

Silver cleans up so nice :up

Holy crap. What does this man do to afford such a magnificent collection of automobiles? That is one of my all time favorite cars. It's cool to think of something like Poorboy's SSR product and the sealant making it all the way to the UK for use on an Aston Martin, and seeing those great results makes it that much cooler. What's the LCD display to the right of the steering wheel up in the corner?

That is a sexy machine. Great job cleaning it up. I can see whatcha mean about that back window. I'd love to have a car like that. Could you get one with a straight shift, or are they all paddle shift or something?

if i were lucky enough to be able to pick out a 'supercar', that would be it....

the Astin Martin has enough ambiguity, that every onlooker wouldnt be staring at ya at every stop light.

as oppposed to a red 360 Modena or a yellow murcielago (sp!)

who needs porn when cars like that exist in the world... Nice work on the detail, hat to hear that he doesn't wax it himself also...

Wait a minute! The steering wheel is on the right side of the car!!!!! JK.

Beautiful machine and nice job on the detail.

Wow! Looks great! :up

Beautiful car inside and out and the detail looks absolutely top notch!

SSR2.5/AIO + whatever sealant I decide really makes for an excellent combo! I hadn't used with EX-P yet but now it looks like I will have to try it! :)

Thanks for all the kind comments guys, it was a great (albeit somewhat difficult) car to work on and hopefully when he sees it (away on business) heâ€â„¢ll decided that it looks much better when maintained properly! Now to answer some of the questions.

Is that a tray loading cd player?

Iâ€â„¢ve absolutely no idea! I think itâ€â„¢s just somewhere to put an emblem! I know it had a changer in the boot though.

Iâ€â„¢m not entirely sure but he seems to dabble in a bit of everything. He quite often sells one of his companies for a vast amount of money (read millions) and then buys it back 6-12 months later for about a tenth of what he paid for it because the people he sold it to canâ€â„¢t make a go of it. Apparently heâ€â„¢s done this 4/5 times now.

Thatâ€â„¢s a Micro Road Pilot â€â€œ a GPS based speed trap detection system. I have one too and theyâ€â„¢re a great piece of kit.

The Vanquish only comes with a paddle shift.

How long did it take? What do you charge??

Itâ€â„¢s hard to quantify because I didnâ€â„¢t work straight through. I had 30-45 minutes chatting with his brother and also a time doing other things, but I started at 9.30am and left at 7pm. It took 2.5 hours to wash and clay it as there was that much crap on the paint. It also didnâ€â„¢t help that the front splitter is only 2 inches off the floor. It was also parked between a wall and the Range Rover so I couldnâ€â„¢t open the doors fully which meant I spent quite a bit of time moving cables and kit around the car. I guess in a perfect scenario it would have taken me 8 hours.

I didnâ€â„¢t charge him for this one as I asked him if I could do it in order to use the photos for my website. Heâ€â„¢s paying me £200 ($380) to do the Bentley though.

Ben

I'm curious how much he coughed up for his vanity plate.

Beautiful car, and a great, great job on the detail. I can see what you mean in regard to the back window.
