Wax Waster
So I'm on one of the corvettes forums........ And people are talking about liquid glass.

I remember using this stuff in the 80's and before. Someone posted that the stuff retails for upwards of $900 for the kit. So we all know I can't keep my yapper shut....

Applying Liquid Glass Polish - Corvette Forum

So for those of you that don't want to read the post, all I really said is that for that price, I pay someone to coat my car....

I remember that small metal can with the corvette on it from the 80's for sure !
They sold it at the Grand Auto Stores, and elsewhere..
Cant believe its still out there and now costs so much!
Can you say - stuck in the 80's - :)

I remember if ya put it on too heavy, it gave KSG a run for it's money to have to chisel the stuff off.....

OMG...people still use that stuff with all of the sealants and coatings out there?? I remember using it back in the day alongside my tin of "Rain Dance".

I should ask my kid to go look and see if I still have any. Should be right next to my leisure suit.............

I wonder if I will be saying that one day about Synergy or PBL as I'm still a younger member

They say it now about terry towels and baby diapers and it wasn't that long ago.

I still remember the days of wiping my car down with cloth diapers. I remember when micro fibers hit the detailing industry. MICRO WHAT??? Heck I still remember doing "group buys" on micro fiber towels and Pinnacle Souveran. Ahhhh the good old days...

Apparently the dude that had the "oil sheik" remark hasn't found the $9900 wax on Amazon. Don't know if I could find it now but found it a couple years ago.

Does that forum have a detailing section Ron? It seems like your post are going over their heads.

I used that stuff back in the late 80s early 90s. It was light blue tooth paste consistency. Smelled like petroleum. Made the water bead and lasted longer than wax. Biggest downside was it oxidized and got darker over time. Very evident on an alpine white bmw.

You needed to buy a LG pre cleaner to remove the dark film and restore the color to the paint.

I like that guys comment that he has just about every wax/sealant ever made-lol
SURE

Ron, u should snap a pic of your stock. :)

Pat:
You are not the only one who used Liquid Glass and DuPont's Rain Dance in the '80's. I REALLY liked the Rain Dance as it was as early form of a one-step cleaner wax/sealant. It did bead quite well.
Coral blue was another wax I liked. Seams to me it had some ultra-fine alumina compound in it that acted as the cleaning (polishing) agent in it. All I know is it took off bug splatter and fly specks from a white '83 Subaru I had while living in the rural upper Midwest.

I think the consumer-applied version of Liquid Glass is still available at AutoZone for about $28.00 for the tin-can with the Red 70's Corvette on it. I liked it when it first came out. It was "expensive" even in the mid-80's: about $10.00 or $12.00. It was great on my '85 red Toyota MR2 (Mister Two as my car-crazy friend called it).
