Arrest Me Red...

Today was a good detail day. I tried out some new products, some I liked, others I didn't.

I started off with a QEW which was presoaked by my new bug sprayer. I sprayed a little QD on each panel before drying (Gliptone Body Gloss). I was happy to see the paint was still shining :). This weather lately had my doubtful. There was a decent amount of marring though accumulated from this winter. Our apartment complex road is like a wind tunnel. The sand blows viciously and coupled with my SOFT clearcoat, I had no chance. To note, the Zaino was still pretty slick and beaded very well.

Anyways, I first tried out #16. I applied thin, let haze, then removed. I noted NO notable difference. I even took pics to see if I could tell...nothing. So scrooge the 16 for now.

I then tried out FK1 Pink Wax. Damn this stuff is nice :). It goes on and comes off easier than #16 and provided a lot of depth on top of my 6 layers of Zaino. It's pretty noticeable in the pics too. I finished up with Poorboy's Spray and Gloss to get any dust or missed wax residue before picture taking. I used on the glass as well. This stuff is very slick and DOES NOT STREAK. More on it when I use it on a "non-wax day".

Anyways, tell me what you think...

Hey sean

The car still looks great! Glad to see you got the window fixed! was there any other damage to the paint that you noticed after detailing it?

keep up the good work

Gorgeous, as usual! :bigups It's good to see the back window intact. Also, the one time I used #16, I wasn't really impressed with the looks either. :dunno I guess I'll have to try it out at least a few more times before I form a final opinion on it though.

Wow that's red! Looking sweet. So pink wax works with Zanio pretty well? Did you apply the zanio by hand or with your rotary? I'm thinking of trying some this year. Looks like it held up VERY well considering the crappy weather we get in the NE.

I don't know. I don't think you have enough layers of Zaino. Probably need another 6-8 coats to make a difference. The back window looks sweet though.

Thanks for the comments :).

Yeah the rear windshield is all good now. I need to install the 3rd brake light after I get it re-tinted.

mgm: Yeah it seems to. Zaino was all by hand. It held up very well IMO.

stlucie: How do you mean?

TDMAN: I can't see your comment for some reason :confused

looks great. id love to see it in person. Hey whats up with your pics? are you boosting the clarity on them?
Just looks he has a real good camera and knows how to use it to me. Maybe he sharpens the pics bafter resizing them for posting reasons? Looks great nonetheless!

I take them at an extremely large resolution and when I shrink em down, I sharpen em a bit just to clean up any out of place pixels.

Glad to see you got the TEG cleaned up after that trash damaged it.
Have you been able to get all the glass out yet

Sean great job as usual. Its always great to see any posts from you. It looks like the pink wax significantly improved your depth and warmth. Glad to see all is fixed with the window!

Greg

Sean,

I'm curious to hear how you applied Zanio.

Did you prep the car with Z5(?) polish via rotary, and then Z2 by hand?

jaybs: I will be finding glass forever! The installer told me to drive with my hatch open and the vibrations should help with getting the glass pieces out of the hatch "arms".

Andrew: PB BnB

mgm: Menzerna FP2 (rotary), AIO (hand), Z5 x 3 with ZFX(hand), 2 weeks later, Z2 x 3 with ZFX (hand).
