Armor All Wheel Protectant - Looks amazing

i just treated my dads bmw wheels with a light coat last weekend and since has been a week and dont know when ill be free to hand wash the car again, but i will post how easy it was or wasnt to clean the wheels post treatment after a few weeks .

cheers !!!!

I didn't snap any pix, but for me, it works just as well as the EO Keep Wheel Clean stuff, the big advantage is the ease of application with the AA stuff, however you get much less per bottle. I put the EO stuff in a compressed air sprayer and it works quite well without leaving a milky residue. Like others have mentioned, you get about two weeks out if it, and then its done, but what autopian waits two weeks to wash their car?

I've been using this stuff for about three weeks now.

I can say without question, IT WORKS.

It works better than just using a sealant (which I use anyway) and it seems to last about two weeks.

One thing of note... when it rains, the wheel looks just as dirty as if you didn't have the stuff on there, but I think that's because the surface tension is higher and it "slings" a bit so the dust seems to settle in the corners of my wheels.

I read one person used 3/4 a can on their wheels? I'm not sure why you would use that much... unless you drive BigFoot :)

I spray a light mist on each wheel, and I'm fairly certain I still have almost a whole can of the stuff after two applications. (Initial, and I just put another on last weekend).

My brakes dust so badly that I can literally wash the car and drive it for a day and the wheels will be dirty at the end of the day... VERY frustrating!!

But with this stuff I can go about two weeks before my wheels start to look like they did after a day!

I love the stuff :)

If you're having good results by applying a "light mist" then I think there might be some confusion caused by the instructions on the can which say to "apply liberally". I had high hopes for this product because I too have a severe brake dust problem. However after one application I haven't been impressed. And although I didn't use 3/4 of a can, perhaps I applied it too "liberally". I'll try again and use less and see how that goes.

At present I would not rate AA Wheel Protectant any better than a nice coat of FK1000, Collinite 476 or Z2 (all of which take a little longer to apply and of course don't really "repel" brake dust but are otherwise excellent on wheels).

Im going to use it on my roomies BMW 335i this week and see how this stuff really works! I can clean her wheels and apply PB wheel sealant to them and then 10 miles later there is brake dust on them so this will be the ultimate test!! I will keep you guys updated!

Anyone have any tips for putting it on chrome wheels, it leaves a residue that is really annoying to look at. It appears as thoe the chrome gets discolored in certain angles. And you can't just wipe it away becuase you wipe off the protectent. I have a 7in lip on my chrome rims. So its hard to keep this stuff from streakin due to spraying too much.

Other then the above, this stuff REALLY works. I just wish I could get it to spray on cleanly and smoothly. Imagine it wouldn't be as big of a deal on a non-chrome wheel.

Yep, it leaves a film so its a no-go for chrome wheels, or probably even black wheels. Looks great on silver though.

I would much rather use a paint sealant such as UPGP. It lasts far longer, is much more economical and, for those who care about such things (I do), is more environmentally friendly.

Well, the problem with a sealant such as UPGP is it does nothing to repel brake dust. It may make it easier to remove, but its nothing like the brake dust repellents.

Wait...so, we can use the waxes we use on the rest of the car on the wheels? =[ I thought this whole time i had to get a separate product for it? =[

I used this stuff on my Z06. My wheels get very dirty, very fast so I want anything that makes them look better. After just a short time, my wheels had black brake dust spots all over the wheels. They looked terrible, much worse than if they were just dirty. Maybe it's because of the ceramic brakes though.

I also tried it on one side of my suburban, but didn't really get any real results because it doesn't get driven very much. It did however, leave a noticable residue on the factory wheels, which I was not happy with.

Needless to say, my experience varies from others who seemed to have success, but I was not happy at all.

I have used the Amour All wheel protectant and it works better than all the others. The problem is the cost at $100 a year. You use a lot if you have complex wheels. I have a BMW and they are the worst for brake dust. My wife can literally drive one day and the wheels need to be cleaned. The AA product actually repels brake dust very well. I will say to some that have a spotting problem with it is that you have to clean your wheels better and don't get any tire gel on the wheels. The Eagle One Keep clean also works but not as well and leaves a white milky film. The AA product is the best out there.:xyxthumbs

I use AAWP on my pop's suv. It does work well, IME. No, it's not a miracle worker, but his wheels accumulate much less dust and they're easier to clean. Problems? It does leave a white-ish-silver residue, and his wheels do get some brake dust streaking after a rainstorm. All in all, it's worth using. I get about 4 full applications per can...i.e., 16 wheels/can.

For less than $100 you can buy low-dusting brake pads that will last for years. The OEM pads delivered on German cars produce dust prodigiously, but I changed to Metalmaster pads on my Porsche and I get very little brake dust even on wheels that have no protection at all. And I wash my wheels maybe once a month.

Compare that to my 2011 Audi, which has OEM pads that dirty the wheels in about 2 days. I'm tempted to try this product on the Audi, but low-dusting brake pads make products like this unnecessary, IMO.

Wait, you get good performance out of 100$ pads for your Porsche? Because quality low dust pads for my Corvette GS are 2-3x that much at least.

But back to the original topic, this Armour All stuff is like magic. My GS wheels would turn brown after 1 spirited drive though some mountain passes. Literally filthy dirty after 75 miles. With the Armour All stuff, I can go 3 drives before I need to clean them, and even then they are cleaner than the 1 drive from before.

A secret I have to make it work better. Wipe the wheels down with some Windex or window cleaner a few minutes before applying. This gets the last bit of dirt off them and makes the wheels 'squeaky' clean. If the wheels have wax or some other cleaner residue on them, the Armour All stuff wont bond. Then let the car sit at least 12 hours before driving.

Your paying way to much for brake pads. Try tire rack for performance pads. The some of the best pads are less than $200. I am with you on the Amor all stuff. The only problem is the expense

I just checked, cheapest Tire Rack had for my car was $300 and went up to $620.

I see a GS, the pads are very expensive. I hope you get more than 10k out of them. I get about 1ok out of the stock BMW pads thats is why I went to Ceramics. I got tired of changing the pads every 9 months.

I doubt I will get more than 5k the way I drive, all 4 tires just failed inspection after only 3k miles, lol. I only drive this car in the mountains, backroads, and trackdays. I have brake dust all over my fenders after driving it once. I plan on switching to ceramics for the street and track pads for the track soon. That should increase the length by a wide margin, but it will cost almost $1000 for both sets.
