Are CCS pads all hype or the real deal?

I really hope they aren't crap because I just bought 2 of every color they make in 4", 5.5" and 6.5" sizes

Seems like the consensus is that CCS is more hype than it is crap. And by that I mean it works as equally well as a flat pad but for a bit more money.

I've been told the CCS pads are mostly based on marketing. Holes don't do huge amount of heat dissipation, can cause suction problems. Flat pads work and are simple.

I agree with David on the 7.5" CCS pads if you're using a rotary. As for PC use - I use the CCS 5.5" pads and they hold up well, I would try Megs if they would make some in the 4-5.5" range just because they keep it simple - 3 pads instead of 7-8 colors.

My Flex and the CCS pads work well together. I hesitate to recommend the yellow though, I have not been pleased with the results.

However the orange, white, blue, and red are awesome.

I've been using LC flat pads for about 7 years with my PC with great results. About a year ago, I bought a Flex XC3401VRG DA polisher and with it, a bunch of the CCS pads.

The white CCS pad is ok but, in my experience (on our 2004 E320, 2008 Cayenne and 1999 Boxster)with Menzerna FP and IP etc. or Meguiars/3m glaze etc. the CCS pads MAY cause more swirls and holograms than they remove.

Initially, I thought it was the Menzerna which was a new product too but, using the CCS pads with my old tried and true products yielded similarly disappointing results.

Not a fan of CCS.

Thanks for the tip on the yellow. I wonder if you would feel the same if it was a flat pad?

Also, since the Blue and Red are both for LSP, is there really a functional difference between them that would justify getting both?

Thanks for taking the time to write your experience. I'm glad this thread is proving to be quite useful with information.

For you using the Yellow who dislike them, they're designed to cut. Thus, they will leave marring. If you know that going into the job, your fine. if you dont expect it beforehand, I understand your issue. But in reality, its not a finishing or polishing pad, its designed to cut, and cut quickly.
