Aquawax over Carnauba

I'm kind of tweaking my routine and switching it up to more carnauba products, Collinite specificaly. I'd use the IW i have on occasion but after routinely using it on my fiances car I'm sold on the look and beading. Plus FMJ is getting too finiky about bonding and I don't want to polish perfect everytime since i plan on keeping this (new) car for a while...

The meat of the situation is, everyone seems to be nutty about this AW. Can it be used succesfully over a carnauba LSP?

Yes, several have done so with great outcome. Including myself. It will act as an extra barrier and help in reducing dust attraction (a plus).

I"ve got aquawax over Max Wax on my car, and aquawax over #16 on my father's ride (both black). AW really increases the shine factor... its all about what look you're going for.

AW will work over most LSP's sealants..wax...and does a fine job doing it...it brings up the slickness and gloss up another level

AW also works great over my other previous favorite sealant before 105 (no, not z) the other Z ... MenZerna FMJ - still super slick stuff! ;)

i've only used AW over DG 105 or Zaino...with great results. when i top my 845 i've used OCW.

curious...everyone says it works well over wax...but it is a sealant. so, what makes AW special that it can work properly over waxes while everyone says not to do so with all other sealants? not that i would complain if it works...i love AW. i just put another coat of 845 on my winter ride and will give it some AW later today for the heck of it.

I find that AW changes the look of the carnuba slightly - I absolutely love it on light colors, not sold on it on black. AW over Collinite 915 is what my sister's car is wearing for the winter. Here's AW over FK Pink.

I just bought a couple of bottle of AW over the weekend and I used it last night to top off Natty Blue wax. Amazing results and this afternoon I parked inside a construction site parking lot and my car was covered with dust. I got home and hosed off my car, I can't believe the beading and sheeting of water. It made the washing a lot easier.

I am sold to this product and I will highly recommend it.

Here's my car with NXT topped with Aquawax:

I am going to switch to something else when the NXT runs out because it doesn't have any durability. I am thinking DG 105, but any suggestions would be nice(I want 3-4 months durability).

The DG105 would be a fantastic choice and will easily go 3-4 months on 1 coat, and much longer on multiple coats. It works very well in conjunction with AW.

If you want to stick with the Duragloss products, then consider 3 layers (12+ hours apart) of Duragloss 105 Total Performance Polish. I preceded this with their Pre-Bonding Agent product, but I haven't yet compared the longevity of a panel with 105 to a panel with the PBA & 105 combo to know first hand just how much difference there really is. To ad a little more gloss, follow that up with a layer of Aquawax 12+ hours after your last layer of 105. Then you can use Duragloss Fast Clean and Shine as a quick detailer, which also adds anti-static properties to your finish to help repel dust. Wash as needed with the Duragloss car wash soap (great stuff). If you want more slickness and gloss after 6+ weeks, you can always apply another quick coat of Aquawax. This should easily give you 6+ months of durability. In fact, just one coat of Duragloss 105 followed by regular washings should easily get you 3+ months of durability.

Collonite waxes would be another good choice for durability. Meguairs #21 is another good choice and there's many other products to choose from. This will be my first winter with the Duragloss products on a number of vehicles, but so far I'm really impressed with the price & performance of the few Duragloss products that I've used so far.
