Aquawax not good for base coat?

Well today I topped of my 4 coats of aquawax with megs 16 and it was a nightmare! After I buffed of the meg 16 it looked awsome in the shade but in direct sunlight it was covered in holograms. It seemed that the 16 didn't bond that well to the aquawax and just smeared around. I took me a good while to buff off the remaining 16. So my question is should aquawax be better as a topper?
 
I only use it as a topper, in that regard it is a killer product. You should be able to put it right over a carnuba like 16 w/ no problems, even though it seems *** backwards putting a sealant over nuba. I put it over collinite and it looks great.

It's classified as a cleaner /polisher and claims to have some mild abrasive in it. It seems that the more coats you use the deeper it cleans and shines. The metal flaking in my "Lunar mist" Silver paint has never stood out like it does now. Mike
 
Thanks for the info, I guess I'll go with the 111 since it doesn't have any abrasives in it. Hope I can top it with a nuba.

There are no abrasives in #105...the cleaner in it is a mild cleaner just to clean surface grime and fallout that shampoo will not remove..or old dead sealants or wax...to ensure a clean surface for bonding...

I got a question...



When I'm detailing a black car, I sometimes get streaks from my MF towels, when in the sun, they look like washing scratches! I know they aren't, but I just can't get rid of em..



Would a top of AquaWax take care of this? Sounds like it would! :bow
 
it may..or the Fast Clean and Shine would...



are they scratches marring or just product streaks..or are your MF towels clean and no fabric softner

Al, Thanks for clearing that up for me. Thought I read somewhere on this site that the 105 had some light abrasive in it for cleaning . My mistake guy's.

Anyway, here is what the hood on my 01 Tacoma lunar mist silver paint looks like after two coats of Duragloss 652 cleaner, four coats of Duragloss 105 applied with a damp applicator, allowed to dry to a haze and then buffed by hand. Then I applied two coats of Duragloss AW spray a buffed dry. The pictures really don't do it justice.

I wasn't go to go to this extreme today but it was a great day for it this morning and evening we had a nice breeze and 84 out.

Mike...that looks real good...really made the silver glisten...seen a lot of silver cars here that do not glow like that...nice job....

today my hood looked much wetter than when I put 105 on yesterday..yes..it is optically clear..like glass...but nice depth also...and slickness did seem to increase...hard to explain seems like it gets better in time.....but the dew blew off the truck real fast..lol...

Thanks Al, Now I'm thinking about spraying the pans behind the wheels with AW just to make it easier to wash off the mud when I go off roading. Don't see where it can hurt anything. What do you all think?, Mike

I use aquawax on my wheels and I've noticed that break dust doesn't stick to the wheels very well so it really easy to clean.

Thanks! It seems like this Duragloss AW can be used on about anything!. Waxed a hand carved walking cane the other day and it's beautiful too!. :bigups Mike

I washed my mom's car that had AW over Tropicare. At 4 weeks it was still beading wash water quite well. I reapplied some AW for kicks.
