I polished my windshield with Ceriglass Cerium Oxide and Griot's glass polishing pad. Did a nice job of removing water spots. Not sure if I like the felt pad over a foam pad, but not really going to get into that here.
I have a half dozen Aquapel applicators sitting around for a few years. Wasn't sure if they would still work. Anyhow, they are sealed in a glass tube and the liquid was still there so I decided to give it a try as I've had good results in the past with Aquapel.
I applied as per instructions and all went well. Looked great! The next day I took my car out and flipped the windshield washer on to get rid of the overnight dust etc. Well, I had a smeared up mess on the windshield. I cleaned the glass again, and wiped off the wipers. Tried again and smeared up mess again. I got worried at this point that the Aquapel was somehow causing this...
To make a long story short, before attempting to remove the Aquapel, which is not the easiest task, I decided to try new wiper blades. My old ones were Rainx Lattitudes and I do believe than at some point in time I used Rainx. The wipers had been working fine prior to the Aquapel application even thought they were over a year old. I replaced with Bosch Icons.
The new wipers work flawlessly with no smearing. My guess is that the old wipers were either well, old, or the Rainx is not very compatible with Aquapel.
I know there are other products such as Diamondite etc similar to Aquapel and have read the occasional review where smearing was an issue. So, I would definitely recommend new wipers any time you are doing a windshield job and getting less than desirable results! So far very pleased with the Bosch Icon's and the Aquapel.
