April is Black BMW Month! 530-545-745 (no 56k)

I had these stacked up for this month! The rest of the auction bunch will be easy: Titanium Gray and 2 Silver Bimmers.

Here's some quick before and afters.

First the 530i: Swirled and some plastic bumper damage. All these are coming off BMW Lease (and I'm convinced that leasee's don't worry about swirling on their non-owned cars)

In process repair of bumper. Used a Metabo with a Meguiar's #7006 pad and 3M compound

Last Black...a BIG 745i with Sport Package

This car was definitely a challenge! I used a wool pad on almost every surface to correct and level the paint. The results came out stunning IMO

Before's:

I used a 3M Wool pad and 3M lite cut compound. Followed with 3M Glaze for polishing and 3M Ultrafina SE for swirl elimination. LSP was Meguiar's #26

Finished shots

Shameless pic of the old detailer (I didn't have gray hair until these hit the shop LOL)

Oh yea...I was able to sneak in a Silver 745i to get a break

:2thumbs: HOLY SWIRLS!

Man those bimmers were beat. Great job turning them around.

What rpms do you use for the bumper in the first pic?

I kept the Metabo on #2 for most of the work (I think that is 800 rpm). Also, being plastic, I don't work the area very long .... it can easily get too hot. I work it, check the temp of the area with the back of my hand, and move to another area while it cools. It's a pretty slow process, but does a remarkable job of repair.

I would be honored for you to work on my car (though it's not nearly as bad as those...). It's a shame we don't have people like you in the BMW dealerships over here!

Amazing work! :hifive: When working on these vehicles was the speed always at #2 or did you ever bump it up?

Joshua: when I'm working on plastic body panels, I pretty much keep the speed setting at 2. On metal surfaces, I keep it at 3.

Plastic is really touchy stuff! I've melted my quota of mirror housings and bumpers for the year...LOL

Roger: I always use a paint guage on these cars. They are purchased from BMW Lease auction and someone might have "cut" the car before I get it.

This one was original thickness (no re-painted areas or thin areas). It's just good practice for the cars we get.

Holy smokes that first one looked pretty trash, keyword being looked after you got your hands on it. Great job on the bunch.

Awesome job Richard!

That 7 series looks awesome in the after pics. Great job on the scratch removals as well. 2500 grit?

Thanks for the compliments folks! Much appreciated and always an incentive to go the extra "uuummmph" in detailing Bimmers.

Macdude: beautiful gallery link you have posted...stunning cars 4 sure!

I'm finished with the black cars for April...unless we get a trade in. I've got a Titanium Gray 5 Series and a Silver 3 Series to do this weekend.

Here's a nice reflection shot of that black 745i Sport Package
