Apply Aquawax with foam pad?

I was wondering, in the presence of all these Opti-seal threads, whether Aquawax could also be applied with a foam pad like Optiseal. When I use a towel to spread the Aquawax, a lot of it gets sucked and wasted into my MF towel. Of course, once it's primed and everything, it's not much of a problem. But it's also annoying that my MF towel gets very grabby if my paint surface isn't slick. By using a foam applicator, I believe that I'd be able to get more even coverage and less product waste. What do you guys think?
 
I use Meguiars Quick detailer MF sponge and it works perfect. No graabing and little absorption. I spray the panel instead of the pad.
 
I also have that sponge. But it seems like since it has so much nap and is, after all, a sponge inside, it would absorb a lot of product.
 
aqua wax can be applied just like any sealant...the point and time savings aspect of the product is lost...but it still can be done if you want..at 7 bucks a bottle and a spritz per panel i wouldn't put much thought personally into trying to save product....
 
I use a 2 towel method...one towel to apply it ...once it is wet it used less product...one towel to wipe it off....another trick I use is I wear a nitrile glove...saves the towel from sliding out of your hand when the paint is grabby...

Yes I use the soft side of those sonus thick rectangular pads to apply that and other QD's

It has really helped the slickness hang around for longer and enhanced the paint a little

Sure it's time consuming compared to spray and wipe but I like it



Maybe do it once every two months and use the towel method after each wash.
 
SVR, so you mean that using the foam pad did help achieve more even and thorough coverage? If so, I think I might try it out. As you said, a towel wipe after each wash, but occasionally a thorough application with a foam applicator.
 
For sure and I'm sure it returned the slickness to almost as slick as just after machine polishing. I just like working the QD in for a minute or two and then removing rather than just spray and wipe

So, you spray it over the paint and wait or buff it into a MF towel, apply to the paint and wait to remove the excess?
