Applicators for uneven/grooved tires!

I use a spray-on product that I get from Costco and then get some old 16" x 16" multifiber towels and cut them into eight pieces. First I wipe the overspray off the rims and wipe the tire as well since the spray product loosens a lot of dirt. I also don't like shiny tires so wiping off the prduct before it gets tacky works really well. It helps to avoid slinging once the tire gets rolling. For tiny grooves (as on Michelin or Pirelli tires), I just wipe in the direction of the groove to get out the excess dressing. Quick and easy.

Let the spray on dressing sit on the tire for a few moments for best results. In order for the dressing to soak into the tire, I'll spray one tire, then the next and then go back to the first tire and wipe off the excess dressing. If you wait to long (e.g., more than 2 minutes, I have found that the dressing starts to get tacky and thick.

Don't forget to roll the car about three feet to get the part of the tire's sidewall that was on the ground when you first sprayed the tire.

When I'm done, I toss the microfiber away. Worked for me for years.

By the way, after wiping the tires, I'll sometimes use the same microfiber to wipe black plastic parts of the engine (fan shroud, etc.) to keep them looking good as well. It's not good to wipe white plastic (i.e., washer fluid reservior) because there can be a bit of dirt from the wheel on the microfiber.

Hope this helps.

Just my $0.02.
