Apple's Safari for the PC

^^ Yes, I wasn't even aware this existed until I read this thread! heh, I just installed it... (and no you do NOT have to install quicktime like some blogs say. There are TWO options during the download... if you don't want QT bundled with your download, you don't have to get it!)

some quick impressions:

* slow on startup

* slow at establishing connections and rendering!

* Bad default options - default font smoothing is rather blurry. ClearType is superior on Windows

* Where can I find the smooth scroll option?!

* Menus do not look too good... I have a feeling the default Safari skin does not import well into Windows

Thanks, but no thanks. I'll just stick with FF now (even though I'm not totally happy with FF... its better than anything else I've tried thus far)

Screw Safari, I would much rather see Apple port OSX to run on generic x86 machines :2thumbs:

I know, it will never happen. :(

I agree :D

But Apple has it pretty good as it is... piracy is low because of how tied it is to exclusive Apple hardware. For example, few people are ever going to pirate a copy of OS X since you:

1) Have a PC... so no go already

2) You are a Linux man... and are insulted by the mention of other OSes! :p

3) Already bought a Mac, so a copy is already bundled anyway

I have 2 Apple computers at home. I never even use Safari on those so why would I on Windows?

I use Firefox 2 most of the time but I am starting to like the newest version of Camino.

4) Apple never released their code to the development community until OS X.
