I pulled my rims of and scrubbed the inner barrels with everything I have. Even used abrasives. Aside from acidic wheels cleaners, is there anything I can do to get rid of these brake dust spots?
Are those Acura/Honda wheels? I bought some used wheels for our CRV that were poorly maintained over the years and look very much like yours. I think the finish is etched with the brake residue that has eaten away at the clear coat over time.
Unless anyone else here can suggest something, I would submit that refinishing the wheels might be your only option.
Try some Ironx, sonax full effect, or wolfs decon gel and let it dwell, agitate, then rinse. I have sometimes had wheels that looked like that come back with letting this stuff sit on there. test it first though to make sure it doesnt do something funky.
Sonax won't make a dent in that. IronX would probably work, but it will likely take several applications. Acidic cleaner or refinishing might be necessary.
