Anyone using Griots Boars Hair Washing brush?

well i'm putting the boars hair brush away for awhile. After spending last week using DACP and NXT to remove swirls the car looked great. Went to wash it this weekend w/ my brush and what do I get afterwards? Micromarring. Gonna switch to wool and see if I like it better...

And if *that* isn't gentle enough, you can try my "extreme wash technique" with a cotton mitt :D

What wash are you using?

Hotrodguy,

Why don't you give microfiber a try - either a microfiber washmit, or a 16x16 microfiber towel. After all the research I've done about what is safe to use on clear-coats, I've decided that microfiber is the only thing that touches my clear-coat - for washing, drying and polishing.

You can go to my site, www.detailsbyalisa.com, under FAQ's and see magnified pics of what terry towels do to a clear-coat - VERRY easy to marr. Also, autopia has a great article on microfiber, and sells a large selection of microfiber for any project you can imagine.

Yeah, MF wash mitts are great *if* they don't pick up *and fail to release* abrasive contamination. Some stuff just won't come off of some MF. But if that's not an issue they can't be beat :xyxthumbs

These days, I use a MF mitt as the "final pass" with my "exteme wash technique- after I've already removed anything especially nasty.

you're right - you need more for an especially nasty car :-) It's been a few years since I've detailed professionally and knew the joys of transforming someone's toxic-mobile. These days all my detailing involves my personal vehicles which I maintain well, so I can afford to go the least aggressive route. Of course, sometimes the constant road "improvement" around here gives me the challenge of removing tar spin art. But, then, that's when I reach for Snap Seal. Wouldn't be without it!
